Base Class: Fighter
A shield-monger has chosen to charge into battle with shields instead of weapons. They specialize in the use of lighter shields, wearing one on each arm. Born for the front lines, these warriors do not fear rushing into the fray, shielding themselves and their allies from blows and projectiles. This technique saw first use in arenas, but has seen successful uses in battles as well.
Shield Fighter
You can use light shields to make attacks.
- You are proficient in making improvised attacks with light shields.
- If you are wielding a shield with the light property, you can use it to take an attack action. The damage die for this attack is a [roll]1d4[/roll].
- When you are wielding light shields, they count as a weapon. You can take the two-weapon fighting bonus action with two light shields.
Superior Defense
While wielding two shields, you gain an additional +1 to your AC
Shield Maneuver
You learn one shield maneuver of your choice. You can spend an action to perform one of your maneuvers.
Intercept
When you provide half-cover or more for another target, you can use your reaction to make the attack target you instead.
Stunning Slam
As an action, you can try to stun a target with your shields.
Throw Shield
You can throw your shield from a distance. Once thrown, your shield has to be picked up again. Your shield is flung at the target. On a hit, it falls somewhere near your target. On a miss, it falls somewhere behind your target.
Turtle
You crouch and hide yourself behind your shields, granting full cover against one enemy you can see or in one specified direction.
Immovable Object
You have learned to brace yourself with the help of your shields. While you are not incapacitated, you are immune to effects that shove you.
Heavy Shields
You have gained enough strength to wield larger shields. Your shields no longer require the light property to be used for Shield Fighter, and your damage die for a shield attack is now a 1d6.
Unscathed
While wearing heavy armor and two shields, you have resistance to piercing and slashing damage.
Towering Obstacle
While wearing heavy armor and two shields, you are a large obstacle to aim around. If you provide half cover for an ally, you provide three quarters cover instead.
