Base Class: Sorcerer
The blood that runs through your veins is suffused with an innate ability to change forms. Such abilities commonly stem from mimics, lycanthropes, or majestic metallic dragons.
As a Bloodshifter sorcerer, you decide why and how you shift. Is it ancestral? Or did some terrible event leave your body fluid and malleable? Consult the Shifting Origins table for a possible origin of your power.
Adaptive Armor
Your skin can shift and move to avoid or absorb attacks. You have a pool of absorptive power represented by a number of d6s equal to your sorcerer level. As a reaction when you take damage from an attack, you can choose any number of dice from the pool, roll them and then reduce the damage by the total. You regain the expended dice when you finish a long rest.
Blood Weapons
Your semi-amorphous form can create a blood weapon in an empty hand as part of an attack. You can choose the form that these melee weapons take each time you create them (refer PHB pg. 149 for options). You are proficient with them while you wield them and use Strength or Dexterity for attack and damage rolls as appropriate to the weapon's form. A blood weapon disappears at the end of the turn if it is no longer in your hand (such as if thrown).
You can transform one magic weapon into a blood weapon by performing a special ritual while you hold the weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the weapon, absorbing it into your body, and you can make it appear whenever you create a blood weapon thereafter (but you can only have one of this weapon created at any given time). You can’t affect an artifact or a sentient weapon in this way. The weapon ceases being your blood weapon if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different weapon, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The weapon appears at your feet if it is in your body when the bond breaks.
Shifting Magic
You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Shifting Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.
Shifting Spells
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|:----:|:-------------|
| 1st | *disguise self, mage armor* |
| 3rd | *alter self, enlarge/reduce* |
| 5th | *meld to stone, fly* |
| 7th | *polymorph, freedom of movement* |
| 9th | *creation, mislead* |
Extra Attack
You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, if you use your action to cast a spell you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action.
Your blood weapons also now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Fluidity of Form
As a bonus action, you magically enter a fluid, amorphous form for 1 minute. For the duration, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a bonus to AC equal to your Charisma modifier.
- You gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
- You are immune to being grappled or restrained and you can move through gaps greater than one inch wide as if they are difficult terrain.
- You can attempt to grapple a creature as a bonus action. You have advantage on attack rolls against any creatures you have grappled.
Once you use this bonus action, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend 5 sorcery points to use it again.
False Appearance
You gain the ability to perfectly alter yourself into another form. As an action, you can cast True Polymorph on yourself, assuming the form of an object or a creature with a challenge rating no greater than half your sorcerer level. Whilst in this form, you are indistinguishable from a normal version of the object or creature you transformed into. You retain your mental statistics and senses and when you return to your normal form you retain your memories of being transformed.
Once you use this action, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend 3 sorcery points (object) or 7 sorcery points (creature) to use it again.

Posted Jan 15, 2024I had the same exact Idea and name as this class and its kind of cool to see another persons take on this idea. But unfortunantley im not able to upload mine because for some reason its too close to "Circle of the spores" Even though their not even that similar! But anyways, I can tell how much effort was put into this subclass.
