Yes, people are noting this and I have even stated it can only get worse when all the other races go in when it goes live for those that want to access the full gambit of things, not just the free stuff. You can simulate it by making the browser on the desktop phone sized. The good thing is a much better search engine might help the phone uses, but I like the tiled place holders if the screen is restricted to a certain size for the browser, if possible, seeing as every browser has its quirks.
On a silly note the current scrolling need makes me think of a song parody. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Keep them users scrolling. Beyond!
Okay, now I expect some silly lash back for that one. I best make a hasty exit. LOL!

Apologies if this already came up earlier in the thread; there's a lot to skim through.
It would be useful if the character sheet could have links to specific paragraphs of the compendium. For a given character, I find myself referencing specific parts of the rules regularly. For example, if my character took the Shield Master feat, I would want quick access to the Shield Master description and also the "Shoving a Creature" section in Combat.
This would also be useful if there were specific rules that keep cropping up over a campaign that we find ourselves reading multiple times.
Similar to this, I have a conjuring wizard that I try to juggle monster summons with; I would love a quick reference sheet that I can add to my standard sheets with the simple monster notes here in truncated form.
Not so much a Character Sheet wish, but connected to similar ideas on the Spells thread--can we get printable cards for class features and feats? Paladin's "Lay on Hands" and Cleric's "Turn Undead" come to mind. My tactile-oriented players already get a kick out of spell cards (particularly Wizards adding them to their own 3-ring "spellbook") and items physically placed in their inventory.
My thought is that these kind of resource/feat cards could make the character sheet itself less cumbersome. Unless we're going for a 4+ page character sheet, having a separate, discrete card with description would lend itself to organizing and referencing these class-specific abilities. Would also make multi-classing easier to organize for the player, assuming there would only be one template for mutliclassing on an interactive character sheet. (I've learned the hard way that not all players organize information in their heads or on paper the same way I do...)
I've given everyone the ability to view the other tabs that were hidden (to protect the formulas). I've now protected those sheets, so you can't break them :)
You can still see the formula's for calculating everything, and if you copy the sheet to your own drive, then you can create a character with it :)
This sheet provides functionality supporting auto-populating many Class dependent features. For example, if you select Paladin, and set the level to 10 with a Charisma score of 18 (selected on the ASI-Feats sheet), the Archetype dropdown next to the Class dropdown will create a list of sub-classes that include Oath of Devotion, Oath of Vengeance, Oath of Ancients, Oath of the Crown, and Oathbreaker. Several other class specific abilities will become visible in the center of the page, such as Lay On Hands (50 healing), Divine Sense (5 uses), Channel Divinity (1/Short Rest), and Spell Slots - all based on the Character's stats and Paladin levels.
It also takes into account HP (including race features and feats such as Tough), and Armor Class (which is a beast to calculate).
AC calculations include; Type of Armor (including Mage Armor, Draconic Bloodline, Unarmored Defense, etc.), if you have a shield equipped, if you have the Defense Fighting Style (and whether you are wearing armor), if you have the Dual Wielder Feat (and if you have two weapons equipped). It does not take into account spells, such as Shield of Faith or Haste.
Skills include the Character's proficiency bonus (if they have selected proficiency "P"), double for expertise (if they have selected "E"), and Class Features that buff skill checks, such as the Bard's Jack of All Trades feature (only if they've selected the appropriate number of Bard levels).
Saving Throws are provided automatically based on starting Class, and if you've selected the Resilient Feat. Certain classes also automatically gain Saving Throw proficiencies when they reach the appropriate level, such as the Rogue at level 15 (Wisdom) or the Monk at level 14 (All).
Weapons also auto show the highest modifier, Strength and/or Dexterity (depending on the weapon), and damage output, including if it's a magical +1, +2, or +3 weapon. It also indicates attack range, including minimum and maximum for ranged weapons. If you selected the Dueling Fighting Style, and have only one weapon set to main hand equipped (MH), with no other weapon set to Off Hand equipped (OH) or Two-Handed equipped (TW), then the bonus damage will also be added to the attack. You configure your character, then choose which weapons you want to use, and the sheet calculates the best method for hitting a creature and maximum damage.
The Spells tab is pretty straight forward. You select the spell you want, and all the information associated with the spell populates in the row (except a description, but a link appears pointing you to the online description at D&D Spells).
The ASI-Feats tab allows you to enter your Rolled Stats, any Fighting Styles you selected, and your ASI increases or Feats selected when you level up. Rows in the Progression Tables will appear grey, until you've reached the appropriate level to gain access to an upgrade. This also includes support for a Variant Human, which gains a Feat at level one. This sheet has support for up to three classes (for folks that need that super optimal borderline MAD build).
Some people have mentioned a need for a Combat Popout Tab, that shows the essentials for encounters. I tried this, and found that most of the information people "needed" made the tab almost as large as the basic Character Sheet. For this reason, the center of this Character Sheet has all the combat information, such as AC, HP, Initiative, Speed, Death Saves, spell slots, class features (sneak attack, rage, channel divinity, sorcery points, etc.), and Weapons.
Realistically, D&D Beyond will need to provide something with all of the above functionality (but more visually appealing and integrated with the rest of the site) for me to use something else. I am hopeful though :)
I am sorry if this has been already answered. RL is making me far less cooperative with this that I would have love.
I think that a link to a printable character sheet would be very useful.
Just my two cents! ( hmmm maybe just half of a copper piece cent ;) )
Yes, plenty of discussion has been listed for ways to print things in part or in whole. Also the fun of spell card printing etc. for those that are definitely more paper and pen at the table and rather use DDB for organizing between sessions. =) It's great that we have people who go mostly paper all the way to fully digital here to help test this and give ideas.

what i would like for the character sheet would be the feature that lets you favorite or tag or bookmark the spells you currently have (this would be great for high level characters)
I think we might have the fun of them linking like this [Tooltip Not Found] in the char sheet so you can click and get a pop up.
They really do need to work on popups though so they are not anchored and won't resize, because they unfortunately don't work if the screen is shrunk when I'm trying to multitask in multiple places. I've already done a post on that topic though.

Spell list management may be a little more sophisticated than that in the character sheet ;)

Well I'm totally in for the use of tablets or digital support for the sesions, I think that makes the DM life a lot easier, but also I am so old school ( started with the old D&D Basic Set) that I love seeing the players writing things on their paper sheets.
I think that if you can browse the DDB and use it to guide a player during character creation and then just hit print and she starts writing down would be a great assets. And I bet you a pint of dwarf beer that it would be easier than a fully integrated multiclass spell list page ;)
At the top of my wish list would have to be some sort of incarnation of the Actions box and the Limited Features box from MorePurpleMoreBetter's automated character sheet (available on the Dungeon Master's Guild if anyone is interested in checking it out). The Actions box lists everything you can use an action, bonus action, reaction, etc. for that is added by your features, and the Limited Features box allows you to keep track of whether you've used your Action Surge, how many Pact slots you have left, it does it all. The latter includes four columns, Feature, Max (max uses), Recover (Short Rest or Long Rest, typically), and Used. It's all very comprehensive and on the front of your sheet there with your hit points so at a glance, you can see the resources your character has expended already. Very useful if you don't want to write it down separately or keep track of it in your head.
MPMB's sheet is the absolute best one I have found so far and is the result of endless user feedback, so I feel like if D&DB wants to have a character sheet one the market that makes me want to drop my current app, or better yet paper sheets (I print MPMB's sheet, though it's also possible to use it on a laptop as a virtual sheet), they should definitely take a look at MPMB's sheet if they haven't already.

I actually wish that combat actions had a bit more detail. A list of the special things a character can do with their action, bonus action, reaction, free item interaction, and movement allowance would be great. It's one of the main things my custom sheets would focus on in 4e, at least on the combat side of the sheet. But I would want a bit more room than that offered on that particular sheet. I'd like an actual (abbreviated, obviously) description of what those special options do. Even just a Fighter's extra attacks on the attack action might need more space than that.

I can understand that, I've been playing quite a bit of 4E recently and enjoying it. I typically just put an asterisk in the movement box or write really small if I have special movements. I'm all for a general action reference sheet, too. That's actually part of what I was referencing when I mentioned the Beyond team reviewing it, because the sheet does offer an optional reference sheet to print that includes the ability to quickly reference cover, light and darkness modifiers, and even the optional rules for the Mark action and such from the DMG. Such a quick reference for the D&DB sheet would be great.
That is a brilliant idea! We have a drug that has a hard time keeping track of what she could turn into and all of it's stats. This would save our party so much time.
My group heavily uses unearthed arcana articles- if along with homebrew there was an option for including recent UA articles in there it'd be great. (And potentially a way to do beta testing for new Beyond features.)
