Ok, that makes sense now that I think about it. Thanks for clearing that up.

"You want too much of me," he snapped at her as he reached the other side of the chasm. "I’m not some glorious knight of ancient days. I’m a broken man. Do you hear me, Syl? I’m broken."
I've been using the character sheet for my in person game since it's release and I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet but the show more/less on the character sheet is really hard to click on a mobile device.
We already have the expand/collapse do we really need a show more/less that resides inside of an expanded area?
I just feel that we already expanded what we want to view, why should we have to perform another action to show the full information? Especially since it is difficult to click on the link to show more/less.
Thanks for the excellent tool and I'm eagerly looking forward to the release.
The Favored Enemy feature of the Ranger class should allow selecting a language.
It already does. When I create a Ranger character under Favored Enemy I see two boxes: one that says "Choose a Language" and another that says "Choose an Option". Selecting Humanoid in the second box creates two more boxes both saying "Choose a Humanoid".
My main issue with the character sheet: Everything is organized by source rather than function. This makes it very cumbersome to use.
For instance, tieflings have the features Hellish Resistance (resistance to fire damage) and Age (they live a little longer than humans). They're both racial features, so they're both on the same card. But Hellish Resistance is an important combat feature, while racial age limits will never ever come up in combat--indeed, they will almost certainly never come up at all. But every time I want to look up my combat-relevant features in the middle of a fight, I have to scroll past my character's longevity, racial alignment tendencies, and ability adjustments.
Some of these features should be pulled out into a "background" section. Others shouldn't be shown at all. My racial ability adjustments are already factored into my stats, why are you reminding me of them on my character sheet?
In a similar vein, the combat stuff would be much more usable if it were extracted from the source features and presented in a compact form. Instead of hiding my fire resistance away behind "Features --> Racial Features --> Hellish Resistance --> You have resistance to fire damage," give me a list of my resistances and immunities, like a monster statblock. If I want to know where a given ability came from, there could be a "more info" thing to tap, but that's information I will rarely need or want. Don't clutter up the sheet with it.

If you click on your AC on the character sheet it will give you a list of immunities and resistances
You can also click on Speed and Senses and they will list any extra stuff that you have there.
And modifications to saving throws will be listed under your core stats.
So most of the stuff you are asking for i think is already there, just sometimes it isn't too intuitive on where it is listed

We are making changes to hide things like the "Age" and "Alignment" traits from the sheet since we agree they're not too necessary during play.
We are also working on getting more information outside the collapsibles and into clear view. This will be a total overhaul when that hits.
Since we have the ability to display ALL the information for a certain trait, feature, attack, etc., we have introduced a new problem that most character sheets or other character management tools don't have. A paper character sheet doesn't have problems with it - folks either write only trait names and page references to go look them up or names and brief notes on what they do.
In order to get all of that content readily-available in context like we are, we have to collapse something. The trick is finding the "break point" between what is displayed at a glance and what is tucked away close at hand.
We're going to continue to tweak all of this until we get to a good place. When we feel comfortable there, we'll tackle making the desktop display an incredible experience - we still are optimizing for mobile in order to avoid wasted time and rework in these early iterations.

Feature name plus drop down for the rules would suit me.
I also think limited vs non limited features is a separation not present in the rule set. They're all features.

I think you're trying to get too much done on one page. That's a good thing if you're trying to make a printable sheet, but not the best use of screen space if I'm playing with digital content alone. If you're trying to cram everything on one screen, most things will need multiple clicks to actually read. If you separate the sheet out into multiple tabs, you can expand most things, so that when I'm wondering if I have a something I don't remember well in a container, I can just go to the equipment tab, and all the equipment is immediately visible. Kinda like a much more fancy and functional "expand all." So, in addition to making a nice printable sheet that expands or shrinks portions as necessary to maximize the information you can fit on a sheet, this is what I'd like to see on the digital sheet:
I'm assuming the sheet will take up multiple pages, tabs, or screens. If I'm right, can we separate the stuff thusly:
Combat page: AC, HP, saves, initiative bonus, weapon and armor details, combat abilities listed, prepared combat spells listed. Since we're working on a digital platform, it should be possible to digitally manage space so that all of these fit.
Social/Exploration page: name, appearance, equipment (without listing damage and other combat details), skills, non combat traits, features, abilities and other prepared spells.
Companion page: animal companion, mounts, donkeys, dogs, possible summoning conjurations, and even wildshapes, since they fit the format. So, maybe call it the companion form page.
Spell preparation page: list all possible spells to select those to prepare each day.
Character building page: list all the choices made for the build, from ability score selection or rolling, to race and subrace choices, to every choice made when you level up.
Possessions page: list all equipment, currency, and magic items, but also stuff not carried (this would work well towards the campaign management phase, but also determines the load on the mount). What items are worn where (sometimes we have to pick which magic item to put in a certain slot). Maybe even options for different loadouts.
Collapsing traits isn't a great solution. I would prefer the ability to hide information.
Having tabs for different functions (combat, exploration, interaction, etc.) is a great idea. I don't need the details of the Actor feat in a fight, nor do I need to know what rage does while exploring an abandoned temple. The compendium already tags a lot of this, so doing the same for race and class features makes sense.
Also, I really want to lobby for adding the damage to the collapsed attacks. 9 times out of 10 all you need is the attack bonus and damage.

Having tabs or sections is just another form of collapsing. Again, the key is to figure out what is most useful to have at a glance and what can be folded into a "read more" or tab.
We will continue to experiment to find that balance.
We are also absolutely pulling damage (and other pertinent details) out of the collapsible header. The idea with what we're doing on that rework is that the description would be collapsed and everything else would be in plain view. Basically, anything you would have had to look up in a book would be collapsed but easy to get to.

Notes page.
We already break the information down into sections on mobile, and we will continue to evaluate what those sections should be.
For instance, we are in progress on a change to have a Proficiencies section that has skills, tools, languages, etc. We are also going to add an Actions section that will list features by action, bonus action, reaction, etc.

I am not sure if this has been looked at or if it could make a huge difference, but I was wondering if it cold be beneficial to have the breath weapon show up in the attack category of the character sheet, even though it is a one time use between rests. It would also be nice to have the damage displayed based on your level like other spells/attacks. As of right now it shows up under limited use category with a check mark box to indicate that you have used it, but again even there it would be nice to see the damage at least. But overall I would like to see this show up under the attack category as it is something you can use in an attack, and it could still be classified as limited use so it only gets the one time. Anyone else have these same or similar thoughts?
Sounds great! As a web developer myself, I'm well acquainted with the space vs content trade-off, so I understand there's a lot to hash out. I look forward to the next version!
When will the feats and multiclassing requirement be fixed for randomized character generation. Also is the any plans to give more options for the randomizer such as limit sourcesand type of ability score method used.

I am glad to see the PDF finally, but I do have a couple of requests.
1. The font on some of the blocks is way too small. Is there a way to fix it to be easier to read?
2. The Spells page only shows the prepared spells instead of the spells known. The page has a clickable block to mark spells prepared, can we get the sheet to reflect all the spells the characters know?
Also I would like to point out something that I like a lot, the ability to manually add skill proficiencies and languages.
Since there are so many pages and posts in this thread, I don't know if what I'm about to say has been brought up already, so I apologize in advance if it has.
For the Explorer's Pack in equipment, could you guys make it so that it is possible to interact with the contents? Say you use a ration; I don't think it is possible to remove a ration from the Explorer's Pack. Could you add this functionality?
I'm wondering when the export feature will be available, because I think it should be thoroughly tested, but until then, I'm also wondering if there will be an easy way to copy and paste the basics of a sheet into a forum post for stuff like the Play by Post games in this very forum. A way to host online character sheets (either by link or by PDF / DOCx) like OrcPub would also be good.
