The advanced search filters are nice if you already know exactly what you need to find, but the search feature does not allow searching the actual text of the spell/item/monster. Being able to search the text itself would allow for more possibilities than the filters allow (for example, I may remember vaguely what an item does, but do not remember the name. Filtering would give me a list I'd then have to go through one-by-one, whereas a fulltext search would possibly give me the correct result right away. Or, maybe I want to view all of the monsters with the ability to petrify people to determine what I should populate a dungeon room with).
Agree with OP. Also, search prediction would be nice, so you don't have to query the exact word string for searches, most people don't have every spell/item/etc. memorized by exact name. I.E. start typing "acid" (for acid splash) and it auto populates the list with all items containing the word "acid". This would increase functionality tremendously.
I agree; the "compendium" button results need to be searchable. As others have said above relating to spells and monsters, you may know a there is a rule but you may not remember right where it is or what it is called and need to perform a search to find it within the subcategories.
"I was trying to look up the rules for darkvision and don't know how to find them."
Also, to answer your question, Darkvision is under Environment > Vision and Light, which isn't necessarily intuitive.
I'm going to add my voice to this suggestion, I know my players will specifically want to be able to jump on the mobile site and search for class features or non-magic items by keywords.

I am not sure I am completely following as I just tried this and it did that for me. Though I admit it might be my computer recognizing previous searches and auto suggesting.

You are not wise enough to fear me as I should be feared. You do not know the first note of the music that moves me.

That is where it is in the SDR. But under what heading is Darkvision explained on the D&D Beyond Compendium site? There is no heading "Environment" or "Vision and Light", but there are obscure headings like "Sentient Magic Items".
Defiantly need to be able to search the Compendium. I was trying to explain attacks of opportunity. I checked "Actions in Combat" nothing, "Movement and Position" and finally "Making an Attack" if I could search "opportunity" it would have been less frustrating.

I definitely want non-magic items in the item compendium.
Also, I'd like to filter based on properties, such as "finesse" "thrown" etc for weapons. Both in and out for filtering, such as ("finesse" weapons that are not "martial")

The spell list has been so helpful that I was surprised at how unhelpful the Compendium is.
I tried to look up Conditions and was surprise that there is no way to search for them. I hate to spend a while looking at the table of contents to find it. I forgot the that the player's put condition descriptions in the appendices. It was not intuitive to look for them there, especially in an online tool where an "appendix" seems anachronistic.
I want to be able to type in "frightened" in a search field and easily find the rule content that contains that.

Is there a way to search the "Compendium" part of the compendium? I was trying to look up the rules for darkvision and don't know how to find them.
+1 for this. I know the Compendium includes a link to the SRD PDF, which is searchable, but that's a hassle to search every time.

I was talking about the DnD Beyond Compendium, but maybe I wasn't explicit enough:
I hope that helps.
The DnD Beyond navigation listing for it is: Home // Compendium // Rules // Basic Rules // Adventuring // The Environment
Great, thanks!

Search feature has been confirmed by staff. You may cheer exuberantly and begin your applause.
I'll wait...

Don't worry, there will be a comprehensive "omni search" added later in the beta!
This will allow you to do exactly what you're asking for. :)
