It would be great if I could, as DM, create a character and transfer the ownership of it to a player. Or at least make it editable by them. The process of creating a character can be a bit labor-intensive for some people who would still really like to use the service.
I know you have a limited number of people working on things and a limited number of hours, but I think as you can see a lot of folks are willing to help. I have some UI design and graphic design experience. Are you ever looking for folks to help volunteer on projects or anything? I would be happy to try and help putting in a few hours each week for a while. If its not a possibility that is OK, but I just wanted to offer my help if there is any way I can help. If not we will just keep being patient and trying to help out where we can. I just think you could get some more folks involved who want to help build this thing together.
I'd like to see the Traits/Bonds/Flaw/Ideals be able to click on the pregenerated ones to add them if desired (as well as keeping ability to type in custom ones).
Along those same lines, if random character creation would select all of those character facets that would be cool, too.
I don't know what the exact balance is but I honestly think the white space helps make it more readable. Having everything scrunched together makes it feel busy and confusing.
Will there ever be an option to upload artwork, or a charcter portrait to a campaign and/or a charcter sheet?
You currently CAN upload a character portrait to the online sheet. When you create or edit a character, right next to the character name option is an image box. Just click that and you can add a picture.
That has never inserted a character image onto the character sheet for me; just on the builder
Oh, I see what you mean. The pdf sheet definitely still needs work, but they're definitely aware of that at least!
For those that have a DCI number in their profile, grey it out and put it in the upper right corner of the character sheet header when it is exported for printing.
It would be very useful to be able to select what resources you want to be able to pull from. My current campaign doesn't use the Elemental Evil book, but I cant exclude it from my spell selection when creating a character

If you create a campaign and send them the link they can create the character under that. Once they have minimum info populated it becomes available for you to edit.

I appreciate the suggestion, but it skips over my main point. I know several people are who pretty into D&D, but getting as far as "minimum info populated" is more than many people are interested in. Creating a Twitch account, D&D Beyond account. and then navigating back to the link has stopped multiple people I know from getting that far. They get confused, assume they're doing something wrong, and lose all interest. Not in D&D, mind you. They keep playing. But they can't get interested in the service enough to make a placeholder character.

Wouldn't you be putting in the effort to help your players with getting setup?

Being able to change ownership of a character within a campaign has lots of other utility, too. Let's say somebody is going to be late and the DM decides to let another player cover their character until they get there. You can print or email the PDF, but it's a bit ugh right now, particularly for a character you're not familiar with. But the digital sheet is perfectly workable. So transfer ownership of Ugbash Facesplitter the barbarian from Bill to Ted, and once Bill shows up, transfer it back, with current HP and notes and spent resources and everything. Really, really handy.
Also great for temporary PCs like the ones in Storm King's Thunder.

Quick question (my apologize if it has already been addressed):
Where are forest gnomes? They are a feature from the Player's Handbook, and should be a selection available during character creation.
