I really like the recent changes to the equipment section. I'm perfectly content with the Starting Equipment section. But if I select Gold instead, it simply adds the gold to my purse no matter how much equipment I add afterward.
Would it be possible, when a player selects Gold, to have the builder deduct money from the character's coffers when he or she first acquires equipment?
what if you buy stuff from a marchant that sell at different prices ? i guess its better just calculate it yourself and remove the gold
No, not what you buy in Ye Olde Shoppe. I was referring to the equipment gained at character creation, using the Wealth by Class table in chapter 5 of the PHB. If deducting gold automatically while you purchase isn't not an option, I'd just as soon delete the Gold option from the character builder, since it doesn't serve a purpose to me.
I fixed that for you. :)
:)
Okay, now you've made me curious. What utility does it have to you? I look at it and I'm like, okay it adds money to my Currency page. But that's something I could do manually with about as much time and effort. Am I missing something? I really do want to know.
Having the character's available money on the character sheet is just as handy as having the number of rations or torches. Also there is nothing that character builder does that can not be done by hand, as a matter of fact people have been doing just that for decades.
The real point is just because a few people don't want or need a feature does not mean that is should just be done away with.
Let the record show that my recommendation was to give the Gold option more utility. My suggesting it should be done away with was more a rhetorical flourish.
In short, I think it could be improved. There must be a way to code the following:
"Alternatively, you can start with a number of gold pieces based on your class and spend them on items from the lists in this section. See the Starting Wealth by Class table to determine how much gold you have to spend" (Basic Rules, emphasis added).
i didnt understood your point at first but now i see.
The thing is that section of the builder let you add stuff but it should let you also (buy) stuff and its not the case right now. It seem like (add)its just adding whatever you want for free ... if they create a buy button that let you buy what you want and remove the gold from your initial gold (if you chose that alternative by getting innitial amount of gold instead of innital starting equipment )
It should also make changes like silvers or coppers when you buy stuff that doesnt cost 1 gold would also be nice to be auto calculated..
I'm building the second level of my warlock character and I added the "Book of ancient secrets"
You can now inscribe magical rituals in your Book of Shadows. Choose two 1st-level spells that have the ritual tag from any class’s spell list (the two needn’t be from the same list). The spells appear in the book and don’t count against the number of spells you know. With your Book of Shadows in hand, you can cast the chosen spells as rituals. You can’t cast the spells except as rituals, unless you’ve learned them by some other means. You can also cast a warlock spell you know as a ritual if it has the ritual tag.
By activating this feature I expect to be able to automatically add two ritual spells from other class to my spell tab but in the section I can only choose those of the warlock spell list
is it a normal situation? is possible to consider the feature book of ancient secrets enabled and add the other spell to the choice?
Thank you
Wait, doesn't the Book of Ancient Secrets invocation have the Pact of the Tome as a prerequisite?
It does, but I have exactly the same problem as Spizz. My warlock has Pact of the Tome and Book of Ancient Secrets, but I can't add rituals to the Book, which means they don't show on my character sheet. That's kind of important.
Two other things:
1) When I create a printable character sheet, it only shows the base damage for a given spell instead of the damage my Warlock should be doing (e.g., casting a 1st as a 4th level spell)
2) No, nevermind. Just the Book of Ancient Secrets and Spell calculations
I tried searching this thread already but didn't find anything regarding my suggestion. Would like the ability to compare multiple characters against each other. For example, initial character creation and trying to decide on class/build options. Having them side by side to compare stats and abilities would be cool.

This is planned.

This might have been answered elsewhere, but when I choose a cantrip as a high elf, it doesn't add that cantrip to the character sheet.
This is definitely a weird one. If you already have a spellcasting section, it'll show up, but if you don't, it won't create one. In other words, if you're a wizard, great. If you're a barbarian, boo. Same (IIRC) for all racial spells and spells from feats. Anyway, this has been brought up before so I'm guessing they're on it, though it might wait to be resolved as part of the character sheet overhaul I guess.

I guess this problem will be addressed in the upcoming character sheet revamp.
Maybe this has been mentioned before, but it doesn't hurt to add my voice to the avalanche of screams :p
I was wondering about things like blessings and epic boons, I didn't see a spot for them on the sheet. To go in hand with this, I while ago I gave a player of min an epic boon that increased his attunment slots to 4 total but it looks like dndbeyond lacks the functionality to do this at the moment.
Another thing is with the ritual caster feat: I'd personally like to see that have it's own partition in the sheet. Got an eldritch knight, and seeing rituals in the known spells category feel off to me.
Another interesting thing I stumbled upon. When I have a shield, two weapons (wielding one offhand) and dual wielder feat it adds both shields and dual wielders bonus to AC on character sheet.
Apologies if I've missed an announcement about this - but I'd expect the Character Builder to create spell cards with appropriate numbers on (similar to the 4E character builder). Any plans in the works?

I suppose that possibility was left open in case a dm gives a player a third arm for some reason. Probably better just unequip either the offhand weapon or the shield.

In the "+Add Custom Attack" area of the Character sheet, I would like to request the addition of an "additional bonus" in the To Hit area.
As it stands now, I can either have a static to Hit override, or I can use a stat/proficiency combination to calculate it. If I am making a custom attack that includes a weapon with a magical bonus , I have to use the override and I have to remember to update it every time my ability mod or prof bonus changes.
I agree. The way the character sheet export works for your spell list appears that they meant to go in this direction, but then stopped for some reason.
If I am a class that can frequently change my prepared spells, when I export my character sheet, I want to see all of my known spells, not just the ones I have currently prepared on my spell sheet. I don't want to print out a new spell list every time I change my prepared spells. Just leave the bubbles empty so that I can print it out and fill in the ones that are currently prepared. As of right now, Druid only lists my currently prepared spells.
It would also be very helpful to have icons indicating concentration, the ability to ritual cast, and when the spell requires the consumption of spell components, right in the spell list. The DC saves being listed is something that should definitely stay.
I have the Sword Coast Adventurers Guide unlocked (as a player in my DMs campaign), but the Duergar (Dwarf, Gray) and Tiefling Variant from that book are not available to me as race options in the Character Builder. I can access the full SCAG compendium, including those entries, but I can't create them as characters.

Did you use the link for your campaign when creating the character?

I completely agree that it could be improved upon and I am sorry if I misunderstood your statement.

Any plans to add in the ability to lock a character from accidental deletion?
