When I'm viewing the character sheet right now it's too overloaded. The features list shows too much information. For instance if I'm playing a ranger, the only hunter feature I care about is the one I selected. On my character sheet showing me the two I didn't pick is just two things I have to scroll past to ready the option I selected. It's even worse for the warlock with their invocations. When I'm playing I don't need to see the entire list of every invocation option--only the ones that I selected. Cramming all of this into the phone-sized panels and not using popups just compounds the problem.
As I mentioned in the release notes, desktop views are not remotely finalized. We are testing and confirming UI and flow at present in order to avoid rework on desktop views later.
Layout and presentation of information will change on the larger screens.
As for the display of only what you have chosen, we are working on that as well.
Almost everything on the character sheet is missing some options for me. Certain races are gone, sub-classes (ranger archetypes, bard colleges, etc.), spells, languages, abilities... I wanted to make a forest gnome beast master type ranger, and I didn't get to do either of them :(
well first congrats on the Huge new expansion . I wish you could have uploaded faster so we could find all the wrongs things faster XD
like for example : I rolled a charcter and the 2 random languages I got was Giant Eagle and Winter wolf .... witch I dont think neither of them is a language .
If you set your level, say to level 4 for example, and it's in error, there is no way to undo this.
Also, I don't see any options for custom homebrew content on your character sheet, like say... If the GM will let you pick a free feat at level 1, or if you end up earning something through roleplaying. The sheets seem very locked in place.
Would be awesome to be able to add an image to the character sheet... adding inventory items can lock up computer... leveling up process could be more intuitive... maybe actually add a button to lvl character up when appropriate xp or milestone is reached?
Can't seem to select BattleMaster as an option for Fighters, and most Feats are not available? I can't tell if this is deliberate or not
Also I've selected manual HP, but can't see how to edit it?
For the beta, only the rules and options provided in the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion are available in Beyond. Once the full platform launches later this summer, the core rule books and others will be available for purchase, and the content within will be available for those that purchase, or have access through a DM's subscription.
For the HP - when you are editing the character you should see a Manage HP button at the top when on the class page of the editor. In the popup you'll want to change the rolled HP (its cumulative, so you need to have the max for level 1, plus what you rolled each level all totaled there).
When i go to background option in edit mode for a character and move it off the current option (acolyte, sage, etc) to "choose an option" it just goes to loading screen and sits and the loader graphic spins...and doesn't stop unless i click on another image link (like going back to the character sheet).
When 'managing spells' I wish there was a way to look at the details of the spell right there. Currently you need to open another window/tab to check out the details.
Also, you can quickly and easily manage your character XP and Level, but you need to go back into the editor to manage your class level. It would be nice if you could manage your class level in the same window as 'Manage XP'.
It would also be REALLY cool if when you levelled up, you were walked through everything that happens. Maybe you get a page that tells you what new abilities, or bonuses you just got. If you gained any new skills. Lets you know what spell slots you just got. Tells you how many new spells you can learn. Stuff like that.
So you have the Wild Shape for druids which is awesome, and it gives all the info, but you should have links from your character sheet to see all the animals listed in the specific challenge rating, and then links from there to see what each beasts stats are.
When using the manual health option I am unable to change the max hp ( I am also concerned how the current setup will work with something like Heroes feast).
In general, adding a level to a character does not unlock any of the higher levels abilities.
The inability to lower a characters level in the experience/level editor might become problematic, if a mistake is made when entering xp for example.
Both the equipment and spell management windows are very difficult to use, having no descriptions on spells as you choose them and the lack of any sort of menus or filters for adding equipment make this sheet harder to manage than a simple form-fillable pdf. I was sort of hoping to see something like the drop down menus used for many of the other selections that a presented in the character creation process at least for the starting equipment and spell selection.
That being said, I love the potential I see in this and look forward to the full release.
EDIT: I finally figured out how to work the class leveling up. I understand that is works that way to accommodate multiclassing, but finding it was not the most intuitive thing. I feel like a button on the character sheet that takes you directly to that page would help both streamline the level up process and make it easier to grasp for people new to the system.
I don't know if this is proper place for this, but it doesn't seem paladins can get spells. I up the character to 6 expecting something but there is no place to manage spells, like there is with a lets say a wizard.

Make sure that your are levelling up with the editor. In the class features section, there is a drop menu in which you have to select the level for the class features. Just done it and it shows the spellcasting section in the sheet.

Was this question ever answered?
Life before death. Strength before wellness. Journey before destination.

Can you add a regular scimitar to the equipable items. There is every version except the original.

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of

This! there should be a little pop up that gives a more in-depth overview of the spell, and then you can click it to see absolutely everything.
A couple things I've noticed so far:
That being said, I love the potential I see in this and look forward to the full release.

I miss the ability to add custom content.
It would be nice to have the option to:
- Create custom race
- create custom racial traits and features
- create custom class
- create custom class features
- create custom subclasses
- Modify all aspects of races and classes
