For more down the track (defiantly want to see the basics handled first), would be great to have the ability to employ a set of House Rules for each campaign, where you can set up alternative rules for that specific campaign. Like employing some of the alternate options in the DMG (like alternate rest rules) or adding even your own homebrew style as some can impact how the character sheet handles those rules as well.
A short list of things I can think of that regularly get tweaked (in my experience) Long and Short Rests Silver rather than Gold economy Critical Hit variances Rolls of 1 and 20 rules on skills/saves Tweaks, be it for classes, spells, backgrounds or whatever. Corruption/Fear rules
Something like [ELVISH]Look at that dwarf over there, with his beard and beer.[/ELVISH]
And it would cipher the dialog for anyone who didn't have Elvish as a listed language in their character sheet? I have no idea how hard that would be, but that sounds absolutely cool.

No idea how you'd code such a thing on the forums, but it sure would be a cool little feature!

Maybe even just direct translation. Go off the tables in the PHB for written alphabet. Would work for everything except Infernal, Abyssal and Celestial.
Being able to take material offline - maybe using a checkout feature - such as the adventure source books, for reading while travelling without internet connection.

Not on PC, but this is what the mobile app is intended for. In alpha now for android and iOS.
I like randomly selecting monsters to tie in to my campaign as an exercise to go off the beaten path with my encounters and maybe get some inspiration. The ability to go to a random monster page would be cool.
It would be nice to be able to track what level of exhaustion you have, as far as I am aware you can only say you're exhausted by your health but can't mark what level.
The only thing I really want to see in D&D Beyond that isn't here already is Variant Rules in the Character builder. Stuff like Honour and Sanity scores from the DMG, and (most of all) the Vitality rules from the June 2015 UA article, Variant Rules (I'm fully aware the chances of this happening are near-if-not-zero, but it is the thing I most want added to Beyond).

How about lore links, and integrated maps for playing in settings? DnDB already has a function like this for rules and spells, but when you mouse over a region, it can link you to an official wiki or a small map showing the area to really get you into the headspace of the world.
This is especially helpful for less fleshed-out, or lesser known settings. Oerth may be the first, but it's also the most vaguely designed. Some mapping and official lore would clear the clutter nicely. And Dragonlance's world is detailed and richly designed, but rarely played in. Eberron and FR are frequently used, but there is so much data about the world, that it's hard to keep it all in my head. Common lore links and mini maps would really pull me back to center whether I'm a DM or Player.
I'm adding my voice here again for offline access for windows users. I would like to take the content I purchased on deployment with me on my Surface. Make it like Steam where you set it to Offline mode prior to being disconnected for long periods of time. Especially since my aging iPad cannot seem to keep a DND Beyond session from crashing.
maybe when you activate a wild shape, you choose from drop down list of beasts, and your character sheet changes to reflect this
Adventure League compatability
An option for AL, where you can input which your +1 is and it only shows these resources for character building, and a custom adventure log sheet that you can record things on
Retained Playtest Material
Itd be good to keep the playtest material for longer, as I’d like to be able to use the character creator for my Tranquility monk, but can’t at the moment
The two things I really need, as part of the campaign management tools, are:
* an encounter builder
* an overview screen to show me the whole party's HP, passive insight / perception, languages etc
I would love that 2nd one so much. I keep forgetting to ask my players that stuff and I just know I'll get screwed on it at some point. "Oh hey, for no reason at all, what's all your passive perceptions?" "WE WANT TO ROLL FOR PERCEPTION!"

Wild shape and AL features are being included in the character sheet rework. On the Tranquility monk part, it depends on how old the UA is. Wizards gave them a cut off as to when they can't add anything previous to that date. I don't know the exact date, one of the mods may be able to tell you. If they removed it after previously having it added, I'm not quite sure why that would be.
So the searchable spells have tags to their sources. Why don't the spells in character builder have links to their sources as well? It's really frustrating going back and forth to make sure you have legal spells.

Can the forum access your character sheet? I mean, I know that the DMs can, but can the actual forum code get to a sheet?
Not at this time, no. But there are plans in the near future to allow read only sheets.

Another vote for shareable NPCs. Be able to share them like homebrew items.

Are there any plans for more DM tools?
Encounter building, initiative trackers, random tables like the ones in DMG and Xanathars?
