So in order to access a main part of the Beyond program early you are forcing people to buy Xanathar's? I think this model of business is silly. I can see giving early access to Xanathars content, that I understand. Last I checked an offline app had nothing to do with Xanathar specific content. My 2 cents. Seems like a money grab to me.
It's the alpha. The beta of this site itself was publicly available, they said it helped a lot and that they'll probably go that way with the app. It's just the first round of testing. Yeah, we'll get first access to it, but we'll also get the most unrefined version of it. It's just a perk of the preorder. I was going to get it either way, regardless of preorder bonuses or not, so I don't see it as a cash grab. Buy it or don't, it's your own choice.

No, we are not requiring anyone to pre-order Xanathar's Guide to Everything in order to access our upcoming mobile app. Everyone will be able to access that as soon as it's available for public release. The app itself will also be free.
We are allowing those that pre-order the book the chance to participate in alpha testing for the mobile app where we can get feedback before releasing to the public.
It's not a money grab because no additional money is being exchanged - Xanathar's will still be the same price after November 10th.
You should have responded, Yes, we are requiring you to pre-order Xanathar's Guide in order to access our upcoming alpha mobile app . It will be free to the public once it is officially released.

You can certainly have an opinion on how I should have responded, but I responded the way I did intentionally and disagree with your opinion.
It's a pretty clear choice: 1) pre-order XGtE if you want to help us during alpha testing or 2) wait to unlock XGtE and use the mobile app when it's formally released.
I think that's been established, so let's move the discussion to other places.

You should have responded, Okay, thank you for the information.
So I'm going to change the conversation and say, "I cannot wait for Xanathar's Guide to Everything," and all the videos D&D Beyond has been sharing have done nothing but whet my appetite.
Badeye, you have any time magic in your eye stalks to move time forward to the release date?

Chronomancer subclass confirmed...alas, no, it's not really confirmed.
I can say that it's going to be worth the wait...very exciting material indeed.

Well, now I want a chronomancer subclass. That sounds awesome (but kind of hectic to deal with as a DM, lol).
I haven't slept in two days thanks to my ADHD meds and I've just spent the past several hours reading literary journals on Poe and studying cellular biology so I may be a little off my rocker. If I was making a Chronomancer subclass I would just forgo all other abilities to let it cast time stop, slow, and haste at will.

Seriously. Can't wait.
Pathfinder has a Time option for its Oracle class (Charisma non-preparation clerics). Some of the class abilities make for good inspiration for a Wizard or Sorcerer chronomancer homebrew subclass in 5e.
I just pre-ordered, is there a chance I will be in the alpha? Or is it way too late?
I've mentioned a couple of times and will reiterate in this thread - we hope that we can overcome some of the technical limitations of our testing platform to remove the 10k limit. Since I don't 100% know that will be the case, we had to announce with the limit to avoid potential disappointment later.
We will certainly make additional announcements if the limit becomes a factor, but everyone that has pre-ordered to this point is certainly "in."

I did see the 10,000 but there doesn't seem to be a place that tells me which number pre-order I am so I wasn't sure if I was still in. (Don't know how many you guys typically sell)
I did not see any threads with the mention of removing the limit (or I missed it in this thread) but even still I would assume it's limiting to 10,000, so I would still have asked.
If there is a way for people to look up this information themselves, please let us know so we don't have to ask to either find out if pre-ordering will get us into the program or if it we are in after ordering.
Thanks!

So to clarify, my year master sub won't get me access to D+D Beyond Mobile App? I have to preorder Xanathar's Guide to get in on this early?
Your one-year master sub gave you the master sub benefits for a year at a discount.
Preordering Xanathar's gives you early access to the DDB app (If you're one of the 10,000 that preorders quick enough).

Indeed, I love the sneak peeks. Can't wait for today's.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.
So, how do you access the phone app alpha once you pre-order?
