Rip will go to meet with the Archivist to see if there's any reason for the attack, and if Ink shared the adamantine info he will look for anything pertaining to that
If foehammer is OK with it, Flint will get to work on that armor.
Foehammer's Forge is undamaged, although the nearby rocks, giants, and other large objects crashing to the ground nearby have upset the objects in the workroom. The various strips of metal and have fallen on floor and must be put back in order. Gehlryn Foehammer chuckles when he sees it, then shrugs. "Well I suppose we'd best get back to work!"
Angel will spend the short rest resting. He’s never been in such an intense fight before and was feeling completely drained. He’ll sit down and look after any wounds he has. He’ll probably need some new clothes as well since these ones were probably burned.
//Not spending any Hit Dice but short resting because Ki//
The place for clothes would likely be the Lion's Share, if they're open. At the moment, the marketplace at the town center is completely abandoned.
Flint and Foehammer work to complete the set of splint armor, and after a little over an hour, their work is done. Foehammer is a master at his craft, and the suit fits Flint excellently.
Ink sits down to study the fork/rod left behind by the giants and tries to attune to it as well. ( ARCANA 27 )
Ink spends about an hour in physical contact with the magical rod.
After the hour, he learns that this 4-foot, forked rod has 10 charges and regains 1d6 + 4 of its expended charges daily at dawn. As an action, you can grasp it by the handle and expend 1 charge to cast the locate object spell from it. When the rod is used to detect objects made of adamantine, its range increases to 10 miles. Ink can tell that this object is very new in construction, crafted for a giant, but not likely by a giant. And its purpose is obviously to search for objects made from adamantine. It seems curious to Ink that fire giants would be searching for such an object.
Ink can also tell that this magical object requires attunement to use.
// While Ink is taking this short rest, what are the rest of you doing? //
// Have to step out, so I'm going to make this an abridged narrative... sorry. //
Ink suggests to Darathra that the militia prepare - whatever they were looking for, they didn't get, which means they may come back. And the giantess did not look happy dragging her compatriot away.
Ink also suggests to her that she and he use their common contacts to get the word out about this attack and perhaps ask the lore specialists about why fire giants would be looking for adamantine.
Ink suggests to anyone doing research on the matter cross index admantine with the fire giants.
Ink also offers to still help out with that local wizard issue - but tomorrow, after a proper rest.
Ink tells Quill to go hunting for a bit - she's deserves the break and to return when she's had her fill.
If Ink has already attuned to the rod, he will cast locate object seeking a large source of adamantine (figure if a giant is looking for it, it's gotta be giant-sized) - if he's not attuned, he'll attune to it and cast the spell then.
Ink also used arcane recovery to gain 2 level 1 spell slots back during that short rest.

The archivist is a mumbling old man with odd set of focal lenses balanced precariously on his prodigious nose. He sits alone in the corner of the leaning tower in the center of town, and was snoozing on his desk, when you found him among his shelves of scrolls and pages. When he looks down at you, his eyes look like that of an owl's through the lenses, which sit slightly askew. He straightens the lenses on his nose, and then they tip to the left again of their own accord.
"Hrm......an'howcanihelpyou?" The old man queries gruffly.
"I'm hoping to find information about why giants, specifically fire giants, would attack Triboar. Or what they would want with adamantine. I'm sure I can locate what I need without much assistance, but am asking for your permission first one librarian to another"
//Rip has the Researcher skill "When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature" if it would help//
"Tell ye what," Foehammer says, "Ye keep this stone here," he places the gem that Flint had thrown him before back into Flint's hand. "When ye get a chance to think, I'd like ye to consider an offer. I've been looking for a good apprentice, and I'd say ye've got what it takes. The pay is good, I get lots of business from all 'round the Coast, especially Waterdeep, but also from Yartar and others nearby...even have the occasional traveler from Cormyr or Sembia asking for a good blade. And like I mentioned before, I'm the royal armorer of Citadel Felbarr."

Darathra agrees. "I've already sent word. We should have mustered 50 soldiers by morning, and the twelve should be back by then, if all went well with the orc situation southeast.
"And speaking of the wizard Kolstaag, my main hope is that we can come to a mutual understanding. If he's going to keep to himself, then his pets are going to need to do the same."
--
The magical rod leads you to a large area of earth in the middle of the north caravan campground (T2), a fenced-in field where caravans can park their wagons and oxen for free. A stone well stands in the southeast corner of the yard. The source of adamantine is under the ground. An elderly man hails you and asks you, "What are you looking for, and why have you got that big poking stick?"

The old man pushes his spectacles back up on his nose. "Ah'm not a researcher," he mumbles. "Ah'manarCHIvist. S'adifference. Hrm..." he looks over a tabbed index. "Adam...Adamant, Adamite...nope. No ad'mantine. Go'look somers else. Neverhad no adamantine 'ere. Not'n thelast thous'nyears, anywers!" He chuckles as if he told a joke, which throws him into a 10-second coughing fit.

"Good day, sir, not so good because giants tries to raze the town, but good because they left. I'm interested to know about this area - it's used for caravans, but has there been any digging around here? Have plants had trouble growing? And that well over there - does the water have a metallic taste to it? You see, I think there's something buried here - something big - and I'm trying to find out what. I can ask the Lord Protector to join us so that you know I mean no harm or foul."

Rubbing his collar and pin thoughtfully, Ink replies, "Good idea - I'll also reach out to our other contacts. They seem to able to find out just about anything. Someone must know something about this.... The rod was not giant made, despite being giant sized."
"And regarding the wizard, I understand - we'll be tactful and peaceful."
Marav sheepishly asks Foehammer, "I don't suppose that Hide armor survived?"
He turns to Ink, "Maybe we should wait until tomorrow to talk to the wizard? I would like to be... fresh when I ask him where were him and his gargoyles as the town burned."
"Tell ye what," Foehammer says, "Ye keep this stone here," he places the gem that Flint had thrown him before back into Flint's hand. "When ye get a chance to think, I'd like ye to consider an offer. "Ah thank'ye friend. That's a fine offer an' ah'll think on it when ah can, but I warn ye it'll be some time 'fore I can settle in fer it. Ah'm under oath ta th' Lord's Alliance fer now. An b'sides, these skinny lads'll need a dwarf around if they run inta any more giants, an' Ah'm thinkin' ain't a one o'em's got th' sense not ta! HAHA! Anyhow, a deal's a deal, here's me mail in trade, it be no as fine o' work as ye normally turn out, but it's servicable, an' Dwarven make, an' ah took good care o' it.

"Eh, if the Lord Protector is alright withit, yeh you ken dig there. I is just collectin' dung from the oxen and keepin' the peace 'tween the caravan drivers, like. Bit o' road rage they git sumtimes." The long-haired man goes back to tending the edges of the fence.
"Mind ya don't make much of a mess, right!" He said, as an afterthought. "And ye'll put back the dirt where ya found it?"
"Well I happen to be interested in events and lore from well over a thousand years ago!"
"Hrm...'course y'are," grumbles the old man. "Eh...y'might'trySilverymoon'r'somewheres round'er," he pointing a dismissive finger in an indiscriminate direction.
