The five of you are travelling along an old road, accompanying a caravan to the small village of Whellwich. Generally most people won't look twice at this little town, however they need supplies like any other village, and you all have decided to accompany this caravan for your own reasons. You have been travelling for close to a week now, and have gotten to know each other a lot better. The man in charge of the caravan mentions that Whellwich should be coming into view soon.
//This is a good time to introduce your character, let the group know anything you think should be mentioned//
With mention of Whellwich coming into sight GB climbs aboard the wagon, atop the supplies to seek a better view. He bellows to any who may be listening;
" 'bout time. GB just about emptied his last wineskin. Another day and GB would have had to raid these casks."
He gently stomps his foot on the supplies below while taking a drink from his wineskin. As he leans his head back to get the last drop a almost stumbles off the cart, catching his balance at the last minute.
//Golden Blurg refers to himself in the third person//
Boo appears in the sky overhead as GB finishes yet another wineskin, her great white bat-wings flapping as she lands on the wagon next to him, a scowl on her face as she chides him, "birdling, Primrose tells me you finished yet another wineskin..." The winged Tiefling's supple body is covered with a fine sheen of sweat from her hours aloft scouting the road ahead, she is exhausted and always gets cranky when she is tired and hungry. For all her efforts to prove otherwise, she cannot match the Aarakocra's speed and endurance in the air.
"Where is the cheese, please tell me you didn't eat it with the last of that wine?" Boo frantically searches the wagon for the precious hunk of cheese she had hidden away. "Oh, whats that Primrose? Oh, I see, did he now?" Nodding Boo suddenly turns over a crate of potatoes to reveal the hidden wedge of cheese. The Tiefling will sometimes spend hours yammering away with someone called Primrose but so far the group is divided on whether or not she is just crazy or if there really is someone or something called Primrose.
Boo smiles playfully at GB, "when I have rested, you and I are going to have another race.."
Lenlieth has spent most of the journey to herself, answering questions with one word, or even shrugs, whenever possible. She has talked the most with the Aarakocra who calls himself GB, but has spared little time for anyone else.
During the nights, once camp was set up, she would sequester herself and play a simple melody or two on her shawm (poorly, and repetitiously). Then she would study her spellbook, practicing incantations and fidgeting with a crystal worn on a chain around her neck.
A young high elf of only 90 years, Lenlieth carries herself with a certain heaviness, as if a great weight constantly rests on her slight frame. She is an odd sight, from her studded leather and her spell book, to her girlish unkempt hair and her belt bristling with weapons. She's rather short for a high elf, and unusually quiet, but obviously knows how to handle herself.
Mostly Lenlieth has just been watching the others with a sort of dispassionate curiosity. It's not that she is unfriendly, but she certainly hasn't been going out of her way to make friends.
Beril walks along one of the wagons with the hood of his cloak up covering his long dark hair. Every few minutes he adjust his studded leather and sheath to keep his hands busy.
As he sees the town come into view, he glances at the two on top of the cargo and shacks his head in disapproval.
Its been along trip. Beril hasn't spoken much to anyone. Hard for him to trust anyone. He's been stabbed in the back before and it cost his childhood friend his life.
As the group approaches the town, Beril lowers his hood revealing his elvish ears. From experience, he knows that gaurds get nervous around hooded figures.
Any thoughts on using the ‘Discord’ app. Works great for ooc stuff and dice rolls. It keeps the thread clean. Just my 2 cents, ha ha.
Lana is a quiet young Elf barely above a child she stays off to the distance most of time scouting ahead or behind the caravan. She catches up as they near the town and a slight smile on her face at the band of characters that she has been travelling with for the week. Normally she would not have latched on to this group but something nudged her as if she was meant to be here. "I have heard of great game in these woods" she says as she lowers her cowl letting her young face hit the sunlight.
"Bwahahahaha! Blurg you crazy crow, sit down before you fall off again...." Aregarak reaches over and grabs GB's arm, then hands him his wineskin "Here, nurse this until we reach town."
Aregarak is a great bull of a man, literally. At well over 6 feet tall, and nearly as broad across the shoulders, he draws attention a lot of places he travels, partly his size, and partly because of the two large horns sprouting from his head, many common folk haven't seen many minotaurs roaming the countryside. He's been assigned to make sure this caravan makes it to Whellwich safely, and while not the most glamorous job, some of his former crew mates ended up much worse.
Looks at the big bull man, only hearing stories of them but never seeing one before this trip. Wanting to ask silly non meaningful questions but holding her breath around him. "Are we going to stay here for a while?" asking really no one in particular but looking in Aregaraks directions.
As your caravan comes over the final hill before seeing Whellwich, you hear the man leading the caravan shout in alarm. As you all come over the crest of the hill you can see that the town is lit up in flames, and smoke is rolling across the ground. Many buildings look as if they have been burnt and have already had the fire put out, but many other buildings are still flaming. You can see movement in the town, but are too far away still to tell exactly what that movement is
Aregarak shrugs at GB then winks at Boo "Plenty of chances for more contests! Why keep score!" Aregarak has a throaty baritone rumble when he laughs
Boo grins and giggles at Aregarak's laugh and a wink, "GB said if I could beat him in a race I could have one of his tail feathers... so beautiful," she seems to purr with child-like delight at the thought of such a prize.
Then hearing the commotion Boo looks to see the smoke and instantly takes to wing heading towards the town for a closer look overhead... doing a quick scouting run over the town then returning to report to the others the invisible Sprite Primrose flying at her side, "I don't know why you must keep embarrassing yourself with foolish notion of winning a race... tail feather indeed."
Throwing her blue, elven cloak about her shoulders, Lenlieth lengthened her stride to come up beside Aregarak, hand on the hilt of her scimitar, alert for any trouble. "Could be an ambush, but if there's anyone still there town, we should help them!" she said urgently.
//So Boo is flying over the town if I understand correctly? If so, please make a Perception Oddlot to see what you can see through the smoke and flames//
Boo hears a woman screaming, but through the smoke it's hard to tell exactly what is below. She does see moving figures moving through the town, and they appear to be humanoid
Boo and Primrose attempt to navigate through the plums of smoke, careful not to enter and be blinded but instead flying around and down towards the screaming woman intent on helping her if possible... Boo landing as close and she can then looking again for where the screams are coming from and heading towards them on foot.
//Boo Perception: 22 with Primrose invisible watching Boo's back.//

GB golden feathers ruffle as he is pulled down by Aregarack, until the wineskin is handed to him and he takes a drink. He looks to Boo and says;
"Another race!?! Haven't you shamed old GB enough...or is it old GB who has been shaming you? BAH! who can remember?"
GB turns back to Aregarack and whipsers;
"GB has won, right?"

He then looks forward and sees the village on fire and is immediately on guard...his job is to keep the wagon safe first....
