From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
"Yeah, this has piqued my curiosity", says Byllemura sleepily. "What could be worse than a devil terrorizing this entire land? Mother Morgantha you said? Maybe we should ask around when we arrive in Vallaki."
"You wouldn't happen to have a brass brazier laying around anywhere, would you?" Thpas asks. understanding that Valanthe means to go looking for trouble the next day, he explains after getting some inquisitive looks after posing such a seemingly random question. "I'll need to make preparations for the morning." (OOC: This is so he can cast the "find familiar" spell)
"I am not so much fond of rushing into danger without knowing what awaits us. I do like a good children's tale before sleep though. Can I have the book back, Val? I would love to read it tonight." whispers Byllemura. "As for this Old Bonegrinder windmill, since it is on our way, I suppose we can have a look."
A vistana replies to Emre, "The witches in the Old Bonegrinder have no formal deal with Strahd, but they see him as their master, though. They sow corruption in the land by feeding off the selfishness of the Barovians."
Some of the vistani go off to their tents, turning in for the night.

While everyone is asleep, Byllemura cannot help but stay awake, staring at Valanthe's backpack. After a little while she sneaks closer and tries to grab the tome she found ealier without waking anybody up (Stealth: 7)
Emre, who was also having trouble sleeping (Gypsies put her on edge), grabs Byllemura's hand without making much more noise. "What are you sneaking around for?" she whispers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
// Now, typically, I'd roll a perception check at disadvantage when sleeping, however, given Valanthe knows what's in the pack, she's not exactly sleeping with it casually tossed to the side, she's literally wrapped around the pack and protecting it. So I'm giving Byllemura the benefit of the doubt and just rolling a straight perception check. //
"I know what you want to read, Byllemura. Now is not the time given the company we're in," Valanthe states in a calmer voice, looking around at the encampment around them.
"And I'm sorry if I startled you or caused you any discomfort when I grabbed your hand. I know you found the... item. I know you want to read it. But we should wait until it's just us."
Thpas snores loudly, rolls to his side, mumbling to himself. As he faces toward the others, anyone taking notice can see that his thumb is securely fastened in his mouth as he continues, rousing.
"Alright, alright. I'm sorry. I should not have done this." whispers Byllemura apologetically. "I won't ever do anything like that again, promise." she continues as she fumbles back to her bedroll.
// OOC: Assuming everyone has gone back to sleep and the night has passed without further events //
Byllemura wakes up screaming, distressed. She jumps to her feet and runs towards Emre, sobbing. "Emre, are you alright? Val? Thpas?" she calls out shaking, staring at her hands.
"What have the Vistani against Mother Morgantha? Is she one of Strahd's minions?"
"Worse." says another Vistani.

"Is she not allied with the devil Strahd, then?"

Valanthe grabs Byllemura's hand with her own gauntleted hand.
"If you EVER touch something of mine without permission again, I will break your hand so that you have to relearn how to cast your spells."
There's a stark darkness of seriousness to Valanthe's eyes.
