I like to play all damage warlock, so I prefer to use invocations that boost my cantrips, like Eldritch Spear or Agonizing Blast. Some of the spell ones are good too, and the pact ones like Book of Ancient Secrets are really cool too.
I think agonizing blast is the one more most universally taken by all locks, darksight and eldritch spear are handy too. A lot depends on what your focus is for the character and what their role is with the party.
I really enjoy being able to talk to any random animals the DM describes nearby. Beast Speech is not the most effective invocation, but it's fun.
Voice of the Chain Master can sometimes be fun. You can communicate with your familiar anywhere on the same plane, and if you have a kind DM, you can cast spells that only require vocal components through your familiar. With some creativity, this can lead to some interesting shenanigans.
Speaking of creativity, Misty Visions also has a lot of applications if you're good at coming up with helpful illusions.

Kerrigan, gold dragonborn pact of the chain fiend warlock (8)/favored soul sorcerer (3): Survived Strahd Roland Crowe, stout halfling pirate (7): off working other angles while the party fights giants Alekhine Dorvanellyn, eladrin bladesinger (7): Fighting giants
For a tank role, if you've multiclassed from Fighter or Paladin, Fiendish Vigor could also be a nifty way to boost your durability. Note that since you can then cast False Life at will, you can keep recasting it until you get the maximum amount.

I think that Fiendish Vigor is one of the best warlock invocations too, allowing you to temporarily increase your hit point maximum at will.

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.

Temp HP, not increasing hit point maximum. A little thing, but important in case there's another source of temp hp affecting you since they don't stack.

Also, it's an action to cast the spell, so you can get temp hp as an action at will. Just in case someone tries to pull some bullshit "I use fiendish vigor as a free action since it says at will" to keep it constantly active. I've seen people try to do worse rules lawyering with less actual justification.

Yeah, I'd do it between encounters

I tend to lean a little more on the RP side of Invocations. Devil's Sight is useful when your entire party (except you) has darksight. Eldritch Sight completely ruined one DM's "this room is an illusion filled with traps!" moment that I got a laugh over. And there's nothing quite as satisfying as having Eyes of the Runekeeper so you can read secret documents about how to destroy specific gods right in front of their followers.

What do you think are the best invocations for a warlock?

Devil's Sight is popular with Shadow Monk Multiclass for the shenanigans, but it's pretty valuable by itself.

Mask of Many Faces = endless shenanigans as long as you remember Disguise Self only lasts an hour
