Base Class: Paladin
Oath of Passion Paladins manifest the very concept of passion into a force in the world to manifest their ideals. They tend to be blazing stars of energy, found on the front lines of revolutions and other fights against injustice, laying down their lives for their chosen cause with the full might of their righteous convictions. This does mean they tend to live fast and die young, for passion and prudence are rarely allies.
TENETS OF PASSION
Though the exact words and strictures of the Oath of Passion vary, Paladins of this oath share these tenets.
- Consent. An Oath of Passion Paladin cannot be made by others, only born of their true passion. Thus they may not force their ways upon others.
- Freedom. One may have allegiances to Gods or Nations, but ultimately loyalty to The Cause comes first.
- Open Heart. Know your heart’s truth. Speak it to the world.
- Joybringer. Share your joys, and let others share theirs with you.
Empassioned Fury
Starting at 7th level, an Oath of Passion Paladin’s Power is fueled by the force of their emotions. For each of the following that apply, add an additional 1d8 Fire Damage to smites.
- The targeted creature has killed a loved one or close ally, or knocked one or more unconscious during this fight.
- The Paladin has witnessed the targeted creature using charms or other mind control abilities which overwrite free will.
- The targeted creature is a slaver or slave owner.
- The targetted creature has commited sexual assault, acts of bigotry or attacked children.
- Is an ex who you are on really bad terms with.
Level 3: Oath of Devotion Spells
The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Passion Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Booty Call, Grease |
| 5 | Magic Lash, Sense Desires |
| 9 | Private Shack, Beacon of Hope |
| 13 | Freedom of Movement, Overstimulate |
| 17 | Seeming, Rary's Telepathic Bond |
Level 3: Blazing Heart
When you take the Attack action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to imbue one Melee weapon that you are holding with your passion. For 10 minutes or until you use this feature again, you add your Charisma modifier to attack rolls you make with that weapon (minimum bonus of +1), and each time you hit with it, you cause it to deal its normal damage type or Fire damage.
The weapon also emits Bright Light in a 20-foot radius and Dim Light 20 feet beyond that.
You can end this effect early (no action required). This effect also ends if you aren’t carrying the weapon.
Level 7: Afterglow
Starting at 7th level, after an Oath of Passion Paladin is physically intimate with another sentient and consenting individual, at the Paladin’s discretion, this other individual is considered to be under the effects of the Paladin’s aura for the next 8 hours, regardless of their proximity to the Paladin.
This can apply to 3 creatures at 7th level, at the Paladin, and at 18th this increases to 6 creatures.
Level 15: Passionate Rebuke
Beginning at 15th level you gain the ability to manifest the power of your Divine Smite against those who harm your friends and allies. When an allied creature you care for is damaged by a creature, as a reaction you can focus your passion on and the creature that damaged your ally is momentarily engulfed by dark pink flames. The creature must make a charisma saving throw. It takes your Divine Smite damage as fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The damage the creature takes is transferred to your ally as healing.
Level 20: Avatar of Passion
As a Bonus Action, you gain the ability to fully channel your passion to empower yourself for one minute and gain the following benefits.
- Each attack action you make now contains three attacks if it does not already do so.
- As a bonus action, you can chose to break any number shackles, chains, cages or other physical constrainsts that you can percieve and can cast energy on them as if [spell]Knock[/spell] had been cast on all of them simultaneously.
- As a reaction you may redirect the damage of any single target attack or spell aimed at your friends or allies to yourself instead. This must be declared after the attack or spell connects with that target but before the results are described.
