So my DM has given me the gust cantrip for free (I'm playing an air genasi monk). However I can't see a way to just add a spell which you wouldn't otherwise have to the character sheet.
This can be done any number of ways, but the most common two options are through a homebrewed magic item or feat. Simply create the item/feat, and navigate to the Spells section, then add gust. Another option would be to create a homebrew copy of the Air Genasi subrace, and manually add the cantrip into the features. My method in that case would be to change Mingle with the Wind to also include the cantrip!
Pity there isn't an easy way to do it. I'll probably use the custom genasi option, as otherwise I'm down an entire feat on my character which I could otherwise use.
Being able to just manually add spells would be nice, as I don't imagine that it's that uncommon for DM's to reward players with things like that.
You could attach it to a Feat or Wondrous Item and add either directly to your character sheet. That would be the quickest and simplest solution, even if it is inelegant.
The magic item solution is a good one. For further reference, though, adding a feat does not need to make your character "down a feat." If you add the feat directly from the character sheet instead of the character builder, the feat is completely separate from the feat/ASI progression found in the rules and used in the builder. To add feats from the character sheet, scroll down to the very bottom of the "Features and Traits" section and click on "manage feats."

Decided to go for the magic item route in the end. Just made a ring into a common magic item with the gust cantrip.

Cheers for that! Didn't realise you could add feats separately to what normal progression would give you.
