As the title may suggest, I'm trying to add an additional spell list to a homebrew Cleric subclass I'm trying to make. I don't mean the additional Domain spells, but a list of spells this subclass has access to that they normally wouldn't. I'm trying to implement this as an optional feature, but it doesn't seem to be working.
The spells I'm trying to add are homebrew spells, and the Cleric doesn't normally get any of them. Except, this one subclass. If I put this subclass in the spell's "classes who know this" part, then it's always prepared. I don't want that. I want these spells to be added to their spell list.
Does anyone know how to implement this? I'm completely stuck. I've even tried adding specific spells known, but that doesn't show up either. Any help would be appreciated.
I implemented Matt Mercer's Blood Domain Cleric for personal use, and am wanting to implement homebrew blood magic spells (also from a third party source for personal use) as the optional feature called "Sanguine Doctrine".
Create an optional class feature. The very last subsection of the feature is labeled “Additional Spell List,” add the spells there.
That's exactly what I did.
Things to double check until GPyromania gets back:
After you add, edit, or delete anything you MUST always re-save you entire homebrew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information. Do that now just in case that solves your issue.
For a character sheet to use Optional Class Features you must first activate them. a two step process. In the character builder, on the Home tab toggle “Optional Class Features” on (red, to the right), and then on the Class tab open the “Optional Feature Manager and check that feature’s box.
In addition to what IamSposta suggested - there are a few things I want to clarify:
I don't see a feature specifically called Sanguine Doctrine - I do see one named Scarlet Doctrine - is this the feature you were referring to?
While you do have the Additional Spell List created - there aren't any spells mapped to it. You would need to map those spells by typing it into the "Expanded Spells" field. I made a guide a little while ago that clarifies the process here.
To reiterate what IamSposta stated - you will need to save at every step. Meaning once you've added the spells, save the Additional Spells feature, then save the subclass feature, before finally saving the overall feature. It may take up to 20 minutes or so for the changes to fully reflect/populate in the character sheet/builder.

I just checked and everything you told me to do has already been done. I checked the character sheet and now the spells are there to choose from? I guess it just needed some time to update.
In any case, I really appreciate the help, thank you! Sorry for the confusion and the time waste, I should've just waited for it to update, whoops.

Can you provide a link to your homebrew subclass? It doesn't need to be published for a mod such as myself to view it.

Here's the link to the subclass: https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/413087-cr-blood-domain

Yes, there is a delay after saving a homebrew before it updates to the character sheet.
