My homebrew race called, Winged, is not showing up in the character creator after I made a subrace. Any idea why this is as my players don't all want to play a subrace of the race?
As soon as a subrace is created one can no longer use just the base race. (Like you can’t be just an “Elf,” you have to choose one of the Subraces.) That’s because a subrace grants all of the traits etc. of the base race, and then adds additional stuff on. (Like High, Wood, and Drow all add traits onto the base elf.) Of you had intended it to be an either/or choice then instead of Subraces you want to create “variants.” (Like the Variant Human, or the variant Half-Elves.) That way they will be able to choose the original race, or the variant version.
Worth noting is that homebrewed subraces do not nest under their parent race the way official races work. To get them to at least group alphabetically the current convention is to name them as “Race, Subrace” to make them easier to locate.
