The magic item "Arrow Catching Shield" has a partial description of "you gain a +2 bonus to AC against ranged attacks while you wield this shield. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC."
My AC on my character is 16. When I equip the shield it is 18 (on the dnd beyond character sheet). It should be a 17/19 against ranged attacks
the way the item reads my AC should be a 17, not the 18 displayed on the AC part of the sheet. That also means unless another way is devised to portray AC versus range attack, I have to be the one to remember the additional +2 ( which would make my AC a 19 against ranged attacks)
Just an FYI. Thanks guys. I enjoy the webpage all the tools its has. keep up the good work
Your AC is 16 without a shield. With a shield (any shield) equipped, you get +2 AC, hence the 18. There isn't a good way to indicate bonus AC due to special circumstances like "against ranged attacks."
I'm not sure where you're getting 17/19 from.

They likely think a shield only gives +1 normally.
