I was making a fighter build the other day and, when I went to add my starting equipment, I opened up the martial weapons section to find something peculiar.
Firstly I found the hoopak, which is apparently part of dragonlance which i don't have so no clue why that's there, is split into two different weapons for some reason even though the description lists them as the same item.
But more importantly, just under it, I noticed a weapon listed as 'firearm'. I selected it to test it out thinking it would be something like a flintlock pistol or something. Nope.
No properties, 2d6 Necrotic damage for some reason, and is unable to be selected by any other item adding area other than the fighter starting martial weapons.
When then searching for the item, I then found a search page for the fire arm which just redirected me to a 404 maintenance page.
You must have access to the Dragonlance book through content sharing. The hoopak was split into two different weapons because the melee and ranged attacks do two different damages and the system has no way of doing that from a single item.
As to the firearm, that glitch is about a month old, it is suspected that it’s an artifact from upgrades the Devs are doing behind the scenes to update the equipment system so as to better implement magic items that are not based on regular weapons, but that’s really only a guess. It could just be an incorrectly coded homebrew by one of the staff. 🤷♂️
Just had the same issue with finding "Firearm" in a search, which simply led to a 404 page. This is the link that led to the 404 error page: https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/firearm

Yeah, the hoopak is a weird weapon. Basically a sling glued to a two-handed shortsword as far as properties go.
