The following three encounters became impossible to view, edit or delete after I attempted to delete them. I isolated the cause to the fact that I tried to delete them and they were associated with a deleted campaign. The impacted encounters are:
01b1cece-adab-4129-b7a1-5fafa36eebfd
75608a6e-b011-4441-bd49-2668e03639e9
2388381f-6bdc-44ba-b761-5e71123fa2b0
In all cases, they open to an empty screen and cannot be deleted. Can you please delete them from the DB?
Note that you can open and edit an encounter from a non-existent campaign. You just can't delete it without leaving it in a corrupted state.
The work-around is quite tedious. I have to edit each encounter, change it to point at an existing campaign (I've experienced trouble if I try to use a preset) and then save it. After that, the encounter works entirely correctly and can be deleted.
I have a similar problem with two encounters: I can't edit or delete them no matter what I try. They've been stuck on my list for a while. I cannot be certain, but your guess that this was caused when you tried to delete an encounter from an inactive campaign is plausible. I have reactivated the campaign but I still can't do anything with them. The encounters have a title in my encounter list, but when I click on them, they come up as Untitled Encounter, with last save in 1969, and "making a perception check to find the encounter..." Clicking on the edit option via the right side menu just brings up the page for creating a new encounter (no encounter name, standard preset party, no monsters).
Try re-saving them as assigned to a new Campaign and then see if it will let you delete them. Just because you created a new campaign with the same name, the encounters are actually still attached to the original with its specific party details.

I should have pulled dev tools console. Here's an example when opening the first one on the list:
