I created my custom race, called Half-Dwarf, for my campaign.
To build it, I used the Dragonborn race as a starting point, because I wanted to use the options setup from it.
Everything works correctly and looks great until you actually go into the character sheet.
When you go into the character sheet that has the Half-Dwarf as its race, there are still artifacts from the Dragonborn race in there (specifically on the Racial Traits tab).
In checking everywhere in my homebrew class, all references to the Dragonborn race have been completely deleted, in every page, top to bottom. There isn't a single reference that I can find, so I am not sure where it is pulling this data from.
I can go back and rebuild it from scratch (although that would be painstaking as the Half-Dwarf has numerous options and several pages of content), but this doesn't solve the core issue. Is this a known problem? Any tips for resolving it beyond what I have tried?
It might be a server caching issue. Try logging out, logging back in, and waiting 20 minutes or so, then check to see if it is still happening. Before you do so, though, make sure you have saved using the save button in the Basic information area of the homebrew editor.
I did fix it by just remaking the breath weapon and damage resistances from scratch.
Taking a look at the Dragonborn race, DDB probably has the Breath Weapon and Resistance traits "tied" to the Draconic Ancestry trait so that you only have to select the Option once to cover all 3 traits. And that's likely hard-coded, which is why it can be a mess to try changing them.
With your remade-from-scratch traits, do you need to select the appropriate Option for each trait in the character builder?

No, I just remade them both to do necrotic damage and give necrotic damage. Agree that it's probably something that's hardcoded in. I find there's a lot of stuff like that on there, which can make it a bit difficult to learn the homebrewing system.
(I know because I recreated the UA Gem Dragonborn for DDB as Private Homebrew before they got the official version implemented. Dragonborn are a PITA because of all of the granted options. 🙄)
Knew I could count on you to tell me I was wrong, Sposta ;)
So your explanation of Options in that first link is for Subclasses, but it all still applies to Races using the Prerequisite Racial Trait Option field, not Prerequisite Class Feature Option field?

Correct. The only part that doesn’t apply at all is trying to get granted feature trait Options to happen at higher level.
I deleted the features already, so I can't really go back and look; however, I reviewed both the breath weapon and the damage resistance numerous times to make sure I hadn't left anything in there related to the draconic ancestry. I guess at this point I'll just have to review what you've advised here in the event I base a homebrew race off dragonborn again at some point in the future. Do appreciate the response though.

Hey there!
Thanks for the response--I was kind of hoping that was the issue, but even after about 12 hours it's still a problem.
I have tried going back through and ensuring I resave all of my pages, including the Basic Information/initial page, but no luck just yet. :/
Thank you!

Please post a link to the homebrew. I won't be able to see it, but moderators and staff will. Hopefully a moderator will stop y and take a look.

I'm having the same issue here.

I'm having the same issue. Was this ever resolved? That seems like a long time for a bug like that to exist.
There are any number of possible causes for this outcome. Post the link to your homebrew so a staff member can take a look.

It is not “hard coded,” it is done with Options. I explain Options in these threads:
