As per subject. Some homebrew items keep vanishing. When I go to create and use template, it is there and I make a copy. The original shows up again. This is really annoying.
When I go to my homebrew creations sometimes I note that the homebrew item that I am looking for is gone. I have to create a new homebrew item and I see that the item that was missing is there in template. I have to create a copy to get the old one back.
If they are disappearing from “Your Creations,” they must be getting deleted somehow. If you see where the [PUBLIC] and [PRIVATE] Status designations are displayed, you can tap/click there and then you can view your [DELETED] creations.
If they are disappearing from “Your Collection,” that’s because they are getting accidentally “removed” from your collection, but can be found in your creations.
I did not know about the deleted filter. OK, I see my items. I see multiple copies as I had to re-create. I am not deleting my items. How are they getting deleted?
How do I delete the extra copies? It will not let me. I delete the item and then it adds it back to deleted with today's date.
What I tend to do is re-purpose no-longer-needed homebrew of the same type as what new homebrew thing I want to create and Edit it to be the new thing, so that there's less duplicated "cruft" sitting around in Deleted.

Thank you. I will keep that in mind when it makes sense to. I rather use a template to have less typing. Other than that I wish dndb would not willy nilly delete items!

I do not publish my homebrews to be public.

You can't make them go away entirely.
