i have made a warlock that is level 8, while making it the spells were not showing up correctly and i had to continually go out of the character creator for the new spell levels to appear after leveling up, after finally finishing my creation and clicking on "view Character sheet" the spells 2nd and 3rd are not there but 1st and 4th do appear,, if i go to "export character sheet" the spells are listed there correctly from what i have glanced, i am very confused and have no clue how to fix this , i have refreshed the page multiple times i have i closed the browser and opened a fresh/new browser and still not 2nd to 3rd lvl spells, i would love to know how to fix or how to figure out what went wrong :3
The Race i used is a custom one i found in the homebrew section called "Althea's Battle Pixies" and i made a custom background that's basically an edited version of the Clans crafter (not sure if that has anything to do with the bug)
Thank you for reading this and i hope there is a way to fix this problem ^~^
First time playing warlock? I'm guessing the level 1 spells are all "at will" spells granted from eldritch invocations and the level 4 spells are all your level 1-4 spell that your warlock knows from spell list.
This is because a warlock's pact magic always casts at the highest level. It doesn't have level 1-3 spell slots, so they are not being shown on the page.
One of the cool things about Warlocks is that they always cast spell at the highest level they can.
The Warlock table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your warlock spells of 1st through 5th level. The table also shows what the level of those slots is; all of your spell slots are the same level. To cast one of your warlock spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a short or long rest.
For example, when you are 5th level, you have two 3rd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell witch bolt, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 3rd-level spell.
That is why the sheet shows everything under 4th level spells, because that is the level you use. As DxJxC said, the 1st levels would be any invocation at wills or racial spells.
Thanks for clearing that up! Not sure how I feel about warlocks now tbh....
They get their slots back on short rest and get a 3rd slot at level 11. And level 6 and higher spells are separate slots (that only recharge on long rests).
Honestly, I think most people prefer to multiclass with other spellcasters to have more slots. Pure warlocks end up relying on eldritch blast which does a considerable amount of damage at high level (finally capping at 4d10+20 at level 17 with agonizing blast).
In combat, yeah, and you try and get more short rests in between than you might otherwise. You also have various pact magic options that can let you use some spells without using your spell slots, and you might lean more towards feats that grant spells.

So an 8th level warlock can only cast two spells because it has two 4th level spell slots? Or no? Sorry, I'm confused about this too
Yes. An 8th level warlock only has two spell slots, and those spell slots are 4th level spell slots.

wait so basically use your cantrips almost exclusively unless something else is needed?
