This has probably been answered already, but I couldn't find any thing and I'm to lazy to keep looking. So if you are aware of a thread that answers it, please point me to the thread. Thanks.
Here is my dilemma. Occasionally when I go and look of stuff, such as spells and monsters, I get redirected to the market place and given the option to purchase the book it is contained in. This is reasonable, but if I already own the book I'm not going to buy it again.
So my assumption is that there is a way to list books and such that you have already purchased so you get the information you are looking for, and not the ad.
If by "I already own the book" you mean the hardcover book, no, it is not possible to reclaim the purchase here in DDB. To unlock the non-free content here, you must buy it from the Marketplace.
Is this ever going to be an option? I'm sure proof-of-purchase stuff would be tedious to handle from DNDB's side. But I've purchased all of the hardcovers, which you know aren't super cheap, already and probably won't use DNDB if I can't get access to things I've already purchased from WOTC (via Amazon so POP on my end would be easy). Unfortunate situation.
I can't make guarantees about the future, but I would say it's almost certain that you will never be able to unlock content on D&D Beyond, based on prior purchase of physical books.
The money you paid for those physical books was just for the book, not for book plus a website service run by a different company.
If, at some point in the future, it is possible to buy physical books that also have some sort of voucher for access to D&D Beyond, they will almost certainly cost more than just buying the physical book.
There's some interesting discussion on this topic in this thread:

Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thank you.

Thanks for the link. This thread was the first one that popped for me.
I was told that DDB was a WOTC product. Didn't know it was a separate company; makes more sense now
