You can see that both of these character sheets have a number of spells marked "Shadow Sorcerer Origin Spells (Tasha style)." This is because we created a homebrew feat to give the shadow sorceror some additional thematic spells in the same manner that the Tasha sorcerer subclasses do. This is a relatively common homebrew for the sorceror class these days.
My wife created her own character on her account. It is in a campaign I created on my account - I pay for the full top level subscription and all the books we use so in my campaign she can use my stuff.
We successfully gave her the homebrew feat quit a long time ago - months and months and levels and levels ago - when the character was being created. We've been playing together fine.
This weekend all of a sudden her homebrew spells have showed up in my character as you can see. I have hunted through every button I can find and I cannot find a way to turn off or remove that feat and those spells from my sheet. In manage feat there's no way to turn it off. It says "from artificer". If I go into manage character and levels" and look at all the added feats it isn't there.
I could try to delete the homebrew from my collection but it was a pain in the first place and that will disrupt my wife's sheet more than it is currently disrupting mine. Is there anything that you can do under the hood to clean this up?
Those spells sneak through when the spell lists attached to those spells have subclasses attached to them, especially subclasses for “prepared spellcasters” (like Artificers) as it makes them “always prepared” spells for those subclasses. The better way to handle such homebrews is to not attach them via a feat but as part of a homebrewed copy of the subclass so that the only class spell list attached to those spells is that homebrewed subclass. That will prevent these spells from sneaking through like that into other subclasses & campaigns. You or your wife must have recently adjusted those spells and added additional classes/subclasses to the list attached to those spells which has caused the issue.
You have three ways to fix the issue, you can either:
* Make a homebrewed copy of her subclass and switch the list of classes to add those spells following the instructions in the Subclasses & Races FAQ #16 #14. Then switch her character to that homebrewed version of the subclass. After that the homebrew creator (you or your wife) can “remove” that subclass from their homebrew collection, which will prevent anyone else from accidentally using that subclass in future. Finally, adjust those homebrewed spells to only include that subclass and none others in the list of classes attached to those spells. That will prevent them from displaying for any other subclass.
* The creator of those spells must make a homebrewed Barbarian Subclass with “Spellcasting” following the directions in the Subclasses & Races FAQ #7. Name the subclass something recognizable and remove it from your homebrew collection so nobody can accidentally use it. Then adjust those homebrewed spells by removing all classes & subclasses from the list and adding that Barbarian subclass as the only available class list. The original feat will still keep them attached to your wife’s character as it is overriding the list restriction for that PC, but it will remove those spells from any other character who shouldn’t have access to them.
* I personally recommend a combination of both options, listing the spells as only for the Barbarian subclass and also attaching them to your wife’s character directly with a homebrewed version of the Shadow Sorcerer. That method will ultimately be cleaner and removes the need for the feat, therefore reducing the overall number of necessary homebrews and limiting the number of potential homebrew interactions that may cause similar such issues in future.
* (This presumes you want them only available for her subclass and no other characters. If you want them available for other characters to learn/prepare, then list only base Classes and no subclasses attached to those homebrewed spells.)
You can use either method alone to resolve your issue. I also use the Barbarian method to eliminate unwanted failed experiment spells from interacting with anything prior to deleting them.
Thanks for your reply - and for all the work you apparently do across this forum. Wow. Can I ask why you didn't suggest your Sub-classes and Races FAQ #14? That seems to be what I need to do to me. Am I missing something?
Also once I've deleted the feat, should I expect the spells to leave my artificer's sheet? Or do I need to re-make the whole character at this point?
Sorry, 13-16 are all new additions to the FAQ, and I got them a li’l mixed up. Lol.
Once the spells are edited to remove the Artificer subclass from its spell list, then it’ll take at least 20 minutes for things to update throughout the caches before they drop from your artificer.

I hope that helps.
