I'm attempting to make what is essentially an Eldritch Knight, but a Warlock version, and as such I need to make a spell table which I can't figure out how to get, for the life of me.
I've named a feature "Spellcasting" as some old posts suggested, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. I can't just copy the Eldritch Knight to see either, as I don't own the player's handbook on dndbeyond here, just the physical version.
You cannot make a Warlock version and cannot alter the spell slots the subclass will provide. Also, the table does not generate, it’s just a copy paste to make it visible, but you can never alter the number or level of slots, it will Only ever follow the EK table.
Looking at the Eldritch Horror Knight by Madman4245 (here), which is a similar idea to what I'm trying to do, the spell table there is the Warlock at its core, but it is different from the handbook.
If I'm still wrong, how do I get the Eldritch Knight table in the first place? You mentioned something about copy and paste?
I believe if you want to give it spells - all you have to do is give it a feature called "Spellcasting" without the quotes and the homebrew system should do the rest. Because it's a Fighter it will get the same spellcasting that the Eldritch Knight does.
Go ahead and add that subclass to your collection and you will see that it adds absolutely no Spellcasting ability whatsoever. The reason for that is because it is currently impossible to do that. There is only one class in the system that can have a Warlock style subclass. And that is the Blood Hunter. (Note, the blood hunter cannot have a regular spell progression either, only the Pact Magic subclass progression that Mercer designed.) That author copied a table from something else, changed the contents to suite their needs, and that’s it. If that’s what you want, then copy any table that has the correct number of rows and columns and do whatever you want.
Do you want it to function on the character sheet? Then as part of the main form for the subclass you have to set “can cast spells” to “yes,” and you have to set the “Spellcasting ability modifier.” In addition. To that, you have to add either a class feature named “Spellcasting” or one named “Pact Magic” to the subclass. Either way, if it is for a Fighter, Rogue, Barbarian, or Monk, it will add the exact same Spellcasting progression as the Eldritch Knight or Arcane Trickster. If you do it for a blood hunter you get the exact same pact Magic progression as you will for the Order of the Profane Soul.
The last post as over a year ago. Has there been any effort by the Devs to add a means of modifying spell lists?
This thread wasn’t about modifying “spell lists,” but about adding Pact Magic to non-Warlock classes. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? I may be able to help. (Might, maybe.) Or at least tell you if what you want to do is impossible.
I'm sorry to necro this again. Has there been any update on this?
I'm trying to create a Rogue subclass using Pact magic with a custom (smaller) spell slot progression. I also would like to add Eldritch Invocations to the class, but a maximum amount of 4 or 5. (Maybe that can be done through the option things like for fighting styles or battlemaster maneuvers.)
Thanks, not sure why I'm just now seeing this. When trying to create a homebrew class or subclass I had to use an existing class's spell table (number of spells per spell level per class level). I was/am looking for a means to modify that, in particular in this case the warlock class.

I don't mean to question, but are you sure?

No. And there likely never will be.

Thanks I'll work around the issue then.

Unfortunately that’s impossible.
