When creating new homebrew most types of content allow you to copy your own homebrew. For example, when creating a monster I can copy a similar monster that I've already created in order to make things easier for myself. When creating a new race I can copy a "template" race that I created especially for that purpose (has only the basic features all races have such as ability score increases, speed etc.) so all I have to do is add what is extra.
However, this isn't possible with sub-classes; only official sub-classes can be copied, which can increase the amount of work required to remove sub-class specific features before we can add our own, either that or we need to create the sub-class from scratch.
While sub-classes are things your average homebrewer is going to create as many of, it would still be nice to copy our own sub-classes. For example, I've been working on some elemental sorcerer sub-classes that have some features in common (or of a similar format) so being able to copy one of these would have made the process a lot faster.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.

I know you’re likely unaware since you don’t use them, but homebrewed subraces and variant races can also not be templated.
