How do I go about sharing the books I have with my wife and kids? We are all in different games with friends and I want to be able to provide them with resources to build their characters and my wife and daughter have shown interest in running campaigns.
You will need to have a master tier subscription in order to share content with other folks. But then, yes, you can create a campaign, turn on content sharing for that campaign, and anyone who has a character in that campaign will be able to read all the source material you have, and create characters inside that campaign that use all those resources. If they want to use those characters in different campaigns they can create the characters inside your campaign, using your resources, and move them into the other campaign, but they won't have access to your resources when they level up or swap out spells. They'd need to either move the character back into your campaign for that, or hope that the other campaign they're in also has content sharing and the relevant resources.
I have the Master subscription. I'm more so curious if my daughter wants to run a campaign with her friends from school, can she not have access to my books for her campaign? I would think that my wife and kids could have access to everything I have access to.
If you are in the campaign with content sharing enabled, all of everyone's is shared with everyone in that campaign for use within that campaign. You don't need to be the DM, so your daughter can be, you just need to have a character in the campaign and for someone to have enabled content sharing (including you) for your content to be shared within that campaign.
As long as you join the campaign as a player, even with a “deactivated” character (so you won’t register as an active player in her campaign), you can activate content sharing for her campaign and then she and her friends can access all of your content.

Sorry to resurrect a relatively dead thread, but having purchased a sub based on this point I feel compelled to mention that this is very much no longer the case. The player must be active in the campaign for the source materials to be shared.
I just tested it several times with my wife’s account and mine. Maybe you could deactivate the account after the other characters were created and added using the source material, but as it stands, when i deactivate my character in my wife’s campaign and go to create a new one (or even manage shared content) all of my owned content disappears, and it reappears once i activate the character again.
Just checking in to say you still right, needing an active character to share. Makes me wonder if the original poster was wrong or if this is just another thing they did to make it more difficult to share with friends.
And sorry for maybe giving you a notif on a dead thread, if that's the case I hope you have a nice day.

Create a Campaign, invite the players to that campaign, create their characters while the characters are inside the campaign, there you go.
While creating the characters it will show you them the resources that you have enabled for them to use.
