When applying "Integrated Protection" it adjusts player AC with the unarmored bonus (and dexterity bonus if applicable) but does not add the proficiency bonus automatically. I have a player where I had to add the proficiency bonus manually, but I shouldn't have to, it should work properly. Please fix.
Proficiency Bonus doesn’t get added to AC by integrated Protection, or any other feature or trait I can recall. Being “proficient” with a type of armor just lets you wear it without penalties, it doesn’t include proficiency in the AC.
What? Dude, it literally says that it does verbatim, specifically for the heavy plating option:
"Integrated Protection Your body has built-in defensive layers, which determine your armor class. Heavy Plating (armor) Your armor class is 16 + your proficiency bonus. You have disadvantage on Stealth checks."
Yes. It requires heavy armor proficiency, but that's just the prerequisite to use the Heavy Plating option itself. The Heavy Plating option DOES add your proficiency bonus to your AC, like if you were proficient in perception or investigation, your proficiency bonus would be added to your total bonus.
However, D&DBeyond staff didn't code it in properly to reflect that. Please fix the code or fix the definition.
Nah brah, that’s from the old playtest version. The official version is different. In the official version there are no more variants/subraces, it’s just the one race, and the Integrated Protection feature reads as follows:
Integrated Protection
Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor:
You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
You can don only armor with which you have proficiency. To don armor other than a shield, you must incorporate it into your body over the course of 1 hour, during which you remain in contact with the armor. To doff armor, you must spend 1 hour removing it. You can rest while donning or doffing armor in this way.
While you live, the armor incorporated into your body can’t be removed against your will.
If you’re using a different version than that it’s homebrew, and you’ll have to contact the author of that homebrew about that.
