I've been building a shaman subclass for Druid. It's an unwieldy mess of a project, as it's basically a new class, but I've made most of it work.
The main issue I'm having now is trying to add in the custom spell list for the shaman. I've been trying to use the "Additional specific spells" list, but it's giving me issues. Some spells show up twice, while others count as always prepared when they should simply be a choice. And if I don't put them in that list, than they aren't accessible at all even if granted by a class feature.
I've managed to recreate the aforementioned problems here. Lesser Chain Lightning, a homebrew spell, shows up twice as a level 3 spell. Meanwhile, Lave Burst and Chain Heal are simply meant to be an option for a 2nd level spell, but they count as always prepared. Even Augury, which is not homebrew but simply a spell from outside the druid spell list, shows up as always prepared. (The intended list is longer, I trimmed it down until I can figure out what's causing the problem).
Is the only solution to make homebrew versions of non-Druid spells with the only change being that they can be learned by druids?
TL;DR: Any spell I add to the "Additional specific spells" list is having various issues, and I don't know how to solve these issues.
Good to know, thanks! Like I said, it was going to be wonky at best regardless, so I can just help my player prepare a separate spell list and make it work.
Hey i have a similar thing but i am making a spell for a paladin subclass im making and it is making it always prepared but it dosen't show up unless i put it specifically in the oath i have for my character. What do i do?

If you put it in the oath then it will always be “always prepared” if you just make it a regular Paladin spell it will show up as a regular spell they can learn. You have to make sure that “homebrew content” is enabled on the “home” tab of the character creator, the toggle should be to the right (red).
The other thing you can do is go all the way down to the bottom of the class feature and add the spell to a custom spell list there.

Any spell added to the additional spell list of a druid subclass are alqays prepared. That is just the way druid is (officially) set up.
Ok, good to know. Is there no way to grant spells via a class feature that gets around this then?
As in "can be prepared, but isn't automatically prepared"? None that I am aware of.
