So i created a homebrew race, and then 3 subraces for it. After assigning the race to my character, it never gave me the option to choose a subrace, and when i went back to change my race the "parent" race is no longer an option (Even after changing to half orc) yet the 3 subraces are appearing as individual choices on the main list at that time. Any help or clue what is going on?
I have done this. Once i clicked that box, the parent race vanishes as an option when creating a character, yet the 3 subraces appear.
This is how it is supposed to work. You can't actually choose a parent race for a character. If a race has subraces, you can only choose a subrace. (No one, for example, can just play an "elf", one has to choose between wood elf, high elf, drow, etc.).
Where it is currently confusing is that in the character builder, they recently grouped the published subraces under the parent race to make navigation easier. So, for example, in the drop-down to choose race, I first hover over elf and then choose an elf subrace.
Homebrew subraces of official races can be made in such a way that they show up under the parent race. (So I homebrewed the UA sea elf and it shows up under elf for me). But if one creates a homebrew parent race (Griffon, for example), we don't currently have the tools/settings needed to list the subraces under the homebrew parent race. Instead, the subraces will all show up separately (Eagle Griffon, Falcon Griffon, etc.)
Now, if you are trying to do something along the lines of Tiefling and Variant Tiefling, then you need to uncheck the "has subraces" box and create Variants instead. It will still have the same issues in terms of listing in the builder (unless it is a variant of an official race)
If you the issue you are referring to is homebrew subraces of homebrew races not being grouped under the parent race in the builder, yes it's a known issue. I would guess it's one they hope to address eventually. But I don't know how high a priority it has in regards to other features.
I doubt that anyone will respond to this since this thread is old, but I think there might be another problem involving this. I created a homebrew race that has subraces and created the subraces but I am unable to make the race as a whole public because it says that the race has no subraces, in spite of the fact that it does. Is this because I have to make the subraces public before I make the race public or is this a problem that is more complicated?
edit: I just realized that the way I explained my problem is really confusing, even to me. sorry.

Two things to check:
1) Have you created the subraces within the race itself? You should see the drop-downs in the main race as Racial Traits, then Subraces. If there is at least one subrace in that section, you're good.
2) Once you have finished your subraces, ensure you also Save Changes on the base race main page. This hard saves the race and rechecks it in the system.
If neither of those address your problem, I'd recommend posting a link to your homebrew, a moderator will be able to access the private link.

This makes absolutely no sense because it doesn't keep continuity with the architecture already established in the race selection screen. Homebrew parent races should be listed within the official race list and have their subraces organized under a flyout/dropdown menu just like every other official race. Otherwise, the sheet alphabetical ordering will ungroup related subraces.
The drop-downs were added after homebrew races were added. Homebrew races are consistent with the previous architecture.
We can hope that when the homebrew revamp on the road map is done that it will include this, but the best way to make your vote count is to go vote on ZenDesk for this feature.
I'm trying to make two variants for a home brew race I'm making and when I go to edit it, it shows them as variants of the parent race but when I go to select a race it shows them as three different races is this intended, did I miss up, or is this just a bug.

It is, for the moment, intended. The official races used to display this way, too. Then they created race groups for the official races so that, for sample, all the elves are grouped under elf. If you make homebrew subraces or variants of the official races, you can group them with those. But there is currently no way to create homebrew race groups, so they all show up individually.
i published a homebrew race and wanted to add additional subraces, it already has 3 but i'm not given an option to create new subraces for it. Do i have to start all over in and create a new copy with the new subraces??? or is there something i'm missing?
I’m trying to make a race that has a subraces and when I try to add traits to the subrace it doesn’t show the option of adding anything, is this a bug or did I do something wrongly?

Found out, if i click has subraces it does this. Even if i create the subrace. So is this a bug or am i missing how this is supposed to work?
That's intended - if you wish to create a race that has subraces, then you need to check the "has subraces" box on the "parent" race.
