I joined a campaign and I thought that I would have access to my DM's source material (PHB and the like). Is that a wrong assumption? Thanks in advance.
Content sharing is the official term for what you were expecting. Content sharing is only possible if someone in the campaign has a master tier subscription and has turned on content sharing. You can see if this is the case by going to Collections>MY campaigns and looking at the entry for the campaign in question. There will be a blue box that says "Content Sharing enabled by NAME" where NAME is the user name of the person with the subscription.
If content is being shared and you aren't seeing it in the character builder, make sure you are creating a character in the campaign. If that still doesn't do it, check your entitlements by going to: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account, choosing Marketplace, then looking at "account entitlements." If it says you need to sync, do so.
If content is not being shared, you will only have access to the material that is available for free and anything you personally have purchased here.
