I did a search for this problem in forums and nothing came up.
I've got a custom mob with text that I linked to DnD Beyond spells so that I could mouse over/click them during the encounter. Once I leave edit mode, all of that content disappears and the mob is flagged with "Cannot share to DnD Beyond because...external links..."
Am I missing something? Is this *really* not possible in DnD Beyond Monster Creation?
I'd post the screenshots but the "Insert/Edit image" image dialog comes up with "Source" , "Image Description" and "Dimensions" but I see no way to actually path it to my desktop or insert the image.
No, it's not possible to link to homebrew monsters. All links are treated as external links, internal links are the ones enclosed in the tooltip commands such as [ monster]....[ /monster]
As for screenshots, D&D Beyond forums do not host images directly (ie you don't upload them from your device). Instead you host them on another site, say imgur, then in the dialogue put the direct url of the image (including .jpg at the end) in the 'Source' field
This is the first mob that I've tried to "create from scratch" and I'm not following this: "...internal links are the ones enclosed in the tooltip commands such as [ monster]....[ /monster]"
Would this allow what I am trying to achieve? Is there an FAQ or "how-to" somewhere on how to do this?
They are called “Tooltips.” They only work with official stuff, not homebrew. You can put hyperlinks in your homebrew, you just won’t be allowed to publish it.

Apparently I'm technologically inept.

Ah...got it now, thanks for the link
It's not a coding issues but security and safety. They don't want people embedding malicious links in homebrew
