Circle of Mortality reads that the [spell[Spare the Dying[/spell] cantrip does not count against the number of cleric spells you know. However, it appears that Spare the Dying is currently counting against your known cantrips when selecting spells during character creation.
Circle of Mortality - 1st level
At 1st level, you gain the ability to manipulate the line between life and death. When you would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell to a creature at 0 hit points, you instead use the highest number possible for each die.
In addition, you learn the spare the dying cantrip, which doesn’t count against the number of cleric cantrips you know. For you, it has a range of 30 feet, and you can cast it as a bonus action.
That's Interesting. I can't seem to do that.. unless I'm missing something.
For example, I've created a level 1 Grave domain cleric and selected Guidance, Spare the Dying, and Word of Radiance. I cannot learn another cantrip, and the Known Spells interface reads Cantrips: 3(/3).
So that's the thing.. Spare the Dying is not showing automatically under Prepared Spells. Maybe my expectations of what's supposed to be shown there are wrong. I was expecting Spare the Dying to be added to the list automatically like Bane and False Life. If that's not the case, I'm happy to close the thread.
Are you checking the character sheet or the character builder? The character builder only shows spells that can be/are prepared by the class (domain spells). Extra spells granted by ither features, items, race, etc are add to character sheet, but not the builder.
Sorry for the thread necro (pun intended!), but I'm having the same trouble. I'm creating an 8th level Grave cleric and I should have four cantrips at this level, and I would think spare the dying would show as "domain" or something as my other domain spells do. In other words, I should have four cantrips PLUS spare the dying, but its giving me a max of four.
Anyone else having this issue? And yes, I'm selecting spells from my character sheet. Like I said, my domain spells show as "Domain" so I don't need to select them.

Your question has already been answered (by me, post 7, would have been the second to last post at time of necro).
Rather than raise dead, you should have cast speak with dead on this thread and gotten the info without making a zombie.
DxJxC, appreciate the tone, but since I'm new to Beyond I apparently misunderstood your response. Looking at it on my character sheet now, I can see that std shows as Circle of Mortality, but in the spell management it doesn't which lead to my confusion. So, problem solved yes, but my point still stands, it would be nice if it DID show as already known so as to avoid this confusion in the first place. Granted, I'm not a coder and the staff at Beyond have done wonderful work… I've played since '87 so this resource is amazing. I simply ask whether if a domain spell can be preselected, why can't a cantrip gained from a subclass. Or, simply remove it from the list as a viable choice so as to avoid confusion. In this case, I would have (rightly) assumed it was already added. Cheers and gg.
Would the cantrip spare the dying heal a creature completely or would it put them at 1 hp
All Spare the Dying does is they don’t have to make death saving throws anymore.
You touch a living creature that has 0 hit points. The creature becomes stable. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs.
A creature that's stabilized doesn't have to make death saves, but it still has 0 hit points and is unconscious for 1d4 hours. When the creature wakes up, they regain 1 hit point, but that's just the normal rules for stabilization, not a direct result of spare the dying. Works fine for me. I can select 3 cantrips not counting spare the dying.

Why are you selecting Spare the Dying when your Domain is giving it to you for free? ö.ö

Weird.
I have never played a Cleric, only a Druid so far, but I also would've assumed that Spare the Dying would've been added automatically. õ_ô

Thanks, DxJxC. That was the issue.

Edit: autocorrect fix of cantrip.
