I'm attempting to create a war domain cleric, variant human with magic initiate (druid) to pick up shillelagh for a wisdom based front line fighter. Unfortunately, when I expand the feat choices there are plenty of Magic Initiate options for all of the classes... except for druid. Maybe the character creation just doesn't like the idea of a war domain cleric beating people over the head with the power of wisdom?

Do you own the PHB here?  Or, are you in a campaign with content sharing turned on?

If the latter, ask the campaign member who turned on content sharing on to turn it off and then back on again.

Does the character already have the feat?

Yes I've purchased digital copies of all of the core books.

Sure enough... on the character shirt Magic Initiate (Druid) is present. However, in the character builder it isn't under Variant Human feat or level 4 class feat. I have no idea why or how it is there.... problem solved??... I guess?

It must have been added directly on the character sheet under “Features & Traits”—>Feats—>Manage Feats. If you remove it there you will be able to select it as normal again.
