I just bought the Eberron book to find out that Wizard can't choose "Magic Initiate (Artificer)". Or, at least it's not there as a choice in list for that Feat.
Is this a rules thing (ie it's disallowed), or is DND Beyond simply not up to date yet with getting the data entered?
I see that there is a generic "Magic Initiate" that is class-unbounded in the drop-down. I can choose that, but how do I make the spells available in the Manage Spells section of the character sheet?
There is no “Magic Initiate [Class]” in the rules. There is only “Magic Initiate.” The problem is that they couldn’t code it that way for the website and have it work properly. In order to get it to work on the website they had to break it down into different individual versions of the feat, but technically there really shouldn’t be. So the “generic” one os the only official one, but it doesn’t work on the website due to technical limitations. If you look at the real feat you will not that it specifies:
Choose a class: bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard. You learn two cantrips of your choice from that class's spell list.
In addition, choose one 1st-level spell from that same list. You learn that spell and can cast it at its lowest level. Once you cast it, you must finish a long rest before you can cast it again using this feat.
Your spellcasting ability for these spells depends on the class you chose: Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid; or Intelligence for wizard.
Artificer does not appear on that list. Neither do Paladin or Ranger. All three of those classes are “half casters” and there is no magic initiate for anything other than full casters.
If WotC (the company that publishes D&D) makes a feat like that for Artificers, then Curse (the company who owns this website) will add it.
Yep, I was referring to the feat in the context of DNDBeyond tech; they have to break it down by Class in order to know what spells should show up in Manage Spells. Makes total sense.
What I wasn't aware is that Artificer was a half-caster; I thought they were full. I see now why I made that assumption: Spellcasting at L1. Ritual Spells. Cantrips (which Paly's and Rangers originally didn't have).
So it makes total sense to me know as to why it doesn't show up. Thanks!

Fandom Games.
Curse doesn't own D&D Beyond anymore, Fandom Games do.

Fandom bought Curse, so Curse is a subsidiary of Fandom.
Interesting, always thought it was Fandom buying it from Curse not buying all of Curse from Amazon.
