When editing an action for a Homebrew Feat, the "Is Proficient" checkbox will always be unchecked, even if the action was saved as proficient. Note: this doesn't affect saving of the action (the saved action is proficient as expected), it only appears to be when editing the action that the box is unchecked, meaning you need to remember to check it again before saving.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a Homebrew Feat
Under actions, add a new action. In my case I'm adding an Unarmed type Melee weapon attack, but I don't think it matters.
Make sure "Is Proficient" is checked (at the top) before saving.
After saving, click "Edit" beside your new action.
Expected Results:
The "Is Proficient" checkbox should be checked.
Actual Results:
The "Is Proficient" checkbox is not checked.

It doesn’t really matter that much, I think it just automatically grants proficiency with the attack.
You don't have to comment if you have nothing productive to say.
Even though that box automatically unchecked itself, the function it is meant to serve is granted anyway. I’m sorry if you think my informing you of that fact is ”nonproductive” to you. Good day.
I'm creating a a homebrew race for a campaign and I've just noticed this too. Glad to know that it works even though I've been sat trying to make the box stay selected for about an hour, lol. However, as much as it's good it's working, I'd really like to see that it is and not have to assume. Has this been brought up with staff so it can be fixed? As someone new to making homebrew content, it would definately make life easier than just praying it's working, and also helps if anyone needs to edit whatever it is in the future.

I just noticed that this appears to have been addressed with the last update. I went to edit something and then scrolled up to recheck the box out of force of habit and I didn’t have to.

Sadly this still doesn't seem to be fully fixed; I've just tried editing a weapon attack action and the Is Proficient box is still unchecked and has to be rechecked every time.
Like you though I could have sworn I've not had to do this some of the time; it's possible the bug was always inconsistent (based on some factor we haven't identified?) or is triggered in multiple places and only some have been fixed?
Definitely isn't fixed completely though. ☹️
Update: Actually, I just checked another attack action I have and that one's fine. I wonder if the difference could be that the latter also has "Affected by Martial Arts" checked, while the one that still doesn't work only has "Is Proficient" checked (as I specifically don't want martial arts to affect it)?

I try to create an action, weapon type, to a homebrew subclass and my is proficient checkbox automatically uncheck as well after saving. I am creating a whole new homebrew campaign that will be accessible to anyone soon and I would like to create the content on D&D beyond because it is so a friendly using website. I hope this bug can be fixed soon as combat is a big part of many adventure.

The bug doesn't affect your content fortunately; as long as you remember to check the box before you save then the content should add proficiency as it should, it's only when going back in to edit that the box appears unchecked.

I'm getting this aswell, a year and a half later :(
This was posted in April, so it has not been a year and a half, but it is still a problem.
Thank you for the report! I can confirm that this is a known bug and it has been raised with the team.
Still has not been fixed... I am trying to add a natural attack to a homebrew race.
This bug still has not been fixed, and does not appear to actually add proficiency to an action.
It doesn’t really matter that much, I think it just automatically grants proficiency with the attack.

Could be, the subclass I was editing when I saw it was in fact a Monk Weapon Action that is affected by Martial Arts.
