So I'm confused. I thought 'noncore D&D' would mean material that is not in the official, published, hardcover main releases put out by WotC, and also were not setting specific. Stuff like, primarily, Lost Laboratory of Kwalish which I own but do not allow the use of the spells in my games (I don't even know why those spells were in there).
And indeed, Lost Laboratory of Kwalish spells are included when you use Noncore D&D in search filters; I went to check because one of my players had this on the list in their character sheet even though Noncore D&D is 'off' (grayed out in character creation.
Didn't even figure out why it showed up, didn't even get far enough to check for myself. My question here, is why is it that when you use Noncore D&D search filters... it includes Summon Greater/Lesser Demon from Xanathar's Guide to Everything.
Non-Core D&D Content is (at the moment) all the Extra Life content;
Lost Laboratory of Kwalish
Rrakrama
One Grung Above
Sapphire Dragon
Mordenkainen's Fiendish Folio
Infernal Machine Rebuild
Locathah Rising
Basically, it's content that is considered by default not used unless the DM adds it. Contrast this to implied 'core' content which is considered allowed unless the DM removes it.
Xanathar's Guide to Everything is considered core content
If those spells were reprinted in one of those noncore sources they would still get listed, but they are themselves also core spells. If they were not reprinted in any noncore product then it’s a glitch.

Bug? Or is Noncore D&D not what I thought it was?

That's what I thought.
Now, do me a favor because I swear I'm not crazy.
Go to spells, then under advanced filters and source material, select noncore only.
It shows two spells that are in Xanathar's Guide to Everything.
I need to figure out if that is also reflected on my player's sheets when they try to pick magic...

You can't turn off core content, due to it being core. If you disable all sources, you're left with just core content.
