When added as a 2024 wild shape to Extras, the stealth bonuses for the panther and giant wolf spider are listed incorrectly as +5. They are both +7 in the Monster Manual.
EDIT: I tried to create a giant spider in homebrew. On the homebrew creation page, the monster's stealth bonus is listed as 7. This is editable as a flat number and does not seem to be computed as a function of the monster's PB and Dex bonuses. However, when I add the homebrew giant spider as a 2024 wild shape form to the extras tab on my character sheet, the stealth bonus is listed as +5. Lowering my character's Dex (and associated ability modifer) has no impact on the stealth bonuses displayed for the real and homebrew giant spiders on the extras tab. Both remain +5.
BTW, I assume all these monsters have expertise in stealth, which would explain the difference between +5 and +7. Nevertheless, it remains a question why +7 is not displayed in the monster's stat block on the character sheet.
EDIT 2: After more fiddling, I confirmed that D&D Beyond hard caps skill bonuses to Ability Modifier + Proficiency Bonus both for 2014 and 2024 wild shapes. This cap is not applied if a beast is added to the character sheet as a different type of extra (e.g., pet). Any modifications to the base value or additional bonus when homebrewing a beast for wild shape are ignored.
Unless someone can explain why this restriction is imposed, it appears to be a bug and should be fixed.
Just writing to provide an update. I contacted WoTC to report the bug, and it appears to now be fixed. I see the correct stealth bonuses displayed for all of the creatures I mentioned when included as a 2024 wild shape extra.
