Just like the title says, a barbarian in my campaign wants armor, but the unarmored defense AC isn't being removed with heavy armor AND the heavy armored bonus isnt registering when equipped either.

We added the armor and equipped it and it stays the same When you click on the AC WITH heavy armor it lists

10 Armor (none) | +3 dex | +4 unarmored bonus (unarmored defense)

It DOES add disadvantage to all the necessary things but it's the AC we're concerned about. Will I just have to edit it manually?

Because the character’s Unarmored Defense results in a higher AC than the armor provides, the digital character sheet automatically default la to the higher of the two calculations. The player would have to either equip armor that grants a higher AC than the character’s Unarmored Defense, or adjust the AC manually directly on the character sheet.

Aaaaaaahhhhhh, okay that makes sense! Look at D&D Beyond lookin out for its players best interests 😂
