Im not sure what having unique spells has to do with anything? Paladins and Rangers both have more units spells than bards and sorcerers combined.
And as an alchemist i dont have much of a use for booming blade a green flame blade (though i do agree with you) and again, shield doesn’t solve my dilemma. I know that they are half caster but you aren’t actually giving me any reason to agree with you
Choose a class: bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard. You learn two cantrips of your choice from that class's spell list.
In addition, choose one 1st-level spell from that same list. You learn that spell and can cast it at its lowest level. Once you cast it, you must finish a long rest before you can cast it again using this feat.
Your spellcasting ability for these spells depends on the class you chose: Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid: or Intelligence for wizard.
Given the nature of the wording, it selects classes specifically for the feat. My take on this is that it will only work for those classes unless an errata or a clarification in Sage Advice is made on the matter.
Personally (as a DM) I wouldn't be too fussed with an artificer-based MI feat choice. It's very similar to wizard and helps people who actually want INT on their characters.
Yeah my DM probably wont mind either. I mostly made this thread to get the idea out there and hopefully nab an official ruling on this concept
Try tweeting it to Jeremy Crawford, he's quite good about responding to rules queries like this.
The question's already come up.
The artificer isn't included in the Magic Initiate feat. A DM can certainly house rule that the artificer can be included, although you can gain access to most of the artificer's spells by choosing wizard or cleric.

Yeah, but its always nice to have some sort of evidence, so to say, when asking a DM what you can do cause it the end its up to them.
