The artificer I'm playing is an elf who crafts wands, staffs, and rods. Pretty much any kind of Arcane Focus. She uses both woodcarver and blacksmith tools to get the job done but doesn't work in either of those professions. I'm having difficulty finding any D&D lore that talks about what you would call this type of craftsman more specific than just "Artificer".
Does anyone know cool sounding titles from other works of fiction that could work?
I feel like wands are items magic users enlist skilled artisans to craft and then the actual user tends to enchant the item themselves. I would think only very elite craftsman are usually chosen. If you wanted maybe an Arcanewright or Wandwright. The thing is most blacksmiths don't make weapons and even fewer craft magic weapons. So with arcane focuses only being used by magic users I don't think there is a simple version of a craftsman to compare too. I also think maybe you don't need to stress the small stuff and that the player can simply be a craftsman who enchants focuses.
Im planning on having my artilarist craft wands. I am currently debating between the "keychain" of wands, or then incorperating the wands into the handles of tools.
I keep a hip quiver meant for crossbow bolts to keep extra wands in to swap out as needed. I love the idea of being loaded down with various wands I've made for specific situations in order to save on those precious few spell slots.
My goal will be to make wands of spells that dont really improve with leveling. Like a wand of Enhance ability (lots of utility that i would probably not have otherwise).

You could have a couple immovable rods thrown into the quiver. I think a wand with charges that can expend charges to cast a spell helps out the artificer tremendously.
These are some great suggestions! I'm glad to see other people playing an artillerist who wields a handful of wands. Personally mine will have one for each spell but use her staff to cast cantrips. It's been fun coming up with each wand's unique design, the key-chain idea however is amazing!
So, long story short, I've apprenticed my character to a wand-maker in Waterdeep named Ogunorim. However, I as a player, am TERRIBLE with names. So yes, he became Ollivander.

Well, using woodcarver tools, these sorts if wand makers could simply referred to as "Carvers".
Arcane-Carvers, if needing a proper title.
Wandsmith could be good as well...the blacksmith equivalent to an artillerist.

magi-miester is one from manga I liked for magic item crafting
I took a few minutes because I actually also wanted to find a cool title for this, and I think the favourite I came up with is "Occult Whittler"

That's the one.
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
Agreed
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
Just call the crafter a Garrick Ollivander; the wand crafter from the Harry Potter movies? :)
Watch your back, conserve your ammo,
and NEVER cut a deal with a dragon!
Damn I came to this thread just to make that joke
