Hello all. Was just thinking about artificers and wondering which races really shine as them? Obviously gnomes, of course, and Mark of Warding dwarves, and high elves. What other races tend to complement artificer abilities? Hobgoblins? That bonus to con and intelligence seems good.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Hobgoblins are very good. So are Yuan-Ti Purebloods, Vedalken, Mark of Making Humans are the best, Variant Humans are always good, and Goblins or Kobolds can also be good, if you want to be a Battle Smith that rides their steel defender.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I would say it kind of depends on what type of artificer you want to be? I mean, I play a Hill Dwarf Battle Smith who is regularly on the front lines, that +2 Con and extra HP really shines then...

Have to second the Mark of Making Human. My Artificer is one. And I have yet to fail at any ability check that could allow my Artisan Intuition die roll. I am already at the point that I rarely use it. And I am only 4th level....we are in Eberron and tinkering is almost too easy for my character...I love the Kobold idea.

In Exandria the Draconblood could be a good choice
Gnomes rock as artificers, all subraces excel
Warforged is a lot of fun

Fire genasi worked pretty well for me too
Gnomes are pretty sweet. Good ASI, nice subraces. As a bonus, if you're playing Battle Smith, you can ride your Defender.
Please check out my homebrew and give me feedback!
Subclasses | Races | Spells | Magic Items | Monsters | Feats | Backgrounds
Changelings can also be surprisingly good.
