Just wanted to open up a discussion thread regarding comparisons between all Barbarian Primal Paths (including the Unearthed Arcana Barbarian Primal Paths). Any interesting builds, issues with the material, personal adjustments to the material and so on?
That's an oversight on my behalf - I completely blanked that Barbs got anything major in SCAG. Would update if there was a way for me to edit the poll directly, but I imagine that's not the case.
The only issue with poll editing is that the later-added options have had less chance to be voted for, and therefore they're less likely to accurately represent everything. Still, thanks for pointing out the mistake; I guess the poll will just see what the most popular path is besides Battlerager haha.
I honestly like the Storm Herald a lot. It's very much different then the other Barbarian Paths, both mechanically and in flavor. The Sea variant is obviously the best, so it plays well with taking a Sailor background and making something interesting out of a constant raving madman who can summon forth lightning as he try to rip your arms off!
I've been having a great time with the Ancestral Guardian. Now this may only be because I'm playing a Lizardfolk and the image of a bunch of spirit Lizardfolk distracting one enemy my character is halfway through eating his buddy, is one of the more amusing things that happen at our table. (We don't take alot of prisoners)

Dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum.
PbP character Son Kol - Kel Dor Fringer (Shadows of the Republic)
Totem is definately my pick. I'd love to see some more options, though, like my Fey, Shadow, Wild Hunt ideas in the thread I started, and perhaps an unarmed path that grows claws or punches with fists like ten pound sledge hammers?
I would also love to see some of the flavor of the 4e Seeker as a Primal Path, though perhaps with spears and other thrown weapons only, bc bows seem super weird in combination with Rage. Maybe as part of the Wild Hunt Path?
But if I had to pick just one Path to be this edition's Barbarian, it would hands down be Totem.
I think Zealot is probably my favorite out of all the ones shown so far, with ancestral guardian as a second- zealot is just so badass with it's very flavorful anti-death features and whereas I sometiems resent it when people try to force flavor and mechanics to be "too" forced together, I love the flavor invoked by the free resurrection feature.
How is the Zealot in play? My wife thought about taking it as an MC option with her vengeance Paladin, before deciding that hexblade worked better, but I'm still curious.

I haven't had the chance yet to see it played, but having had both of the PHB types in the group i was DMing, the features seem like it would be very effective- it can even do some sub-zero fighting so its going to really resonate with the types of players whom want to fight recklessly or get themselves way over their heads, it can use it's howling feature to enable a huge nova round for the party, making it a much safer decision to for other characters to spend their resources. They also benefit from being ganged up on with their aura damage- i'm not sure I would pair it with paladin because unlike most good paladin multiclasses, you don't get extra slots to smite with or the ability to reconfigure your slots, but by itself, it looks like a blast.
Right on. We aren't too worried about careful optimization, so the slots thing wasn't a real concern. Also, you get Rage, Unarmored Defense, and the Zealot Features, which ain't bad.
I'm currently trying to work out how to best build a Gnome Totem Barbarian. I don't want to do that strange Barbarian Archer thing some folks seem to do, but Gnomes just get nothing for Barbarians...
I really want to play a Storm Herald Triton Barbarian. It just seems like a perfect fit (except for already being able to breathe underwater) thematically that I really can't wait to try that combo out.
I'm currently playing in a Drow mini-campaign using the Zealot Barbarian. She's a gladiator (with aspirations of becoming a soldier) and her rage aura is the wrath of Lolth inflicted upon her enemies (and occasional allies; what, she is a Drow...). Of course she also has to feel like an enemy is worth the wrath of Lolth, and sometimes they aren't. Our last session a duergar challenged her to a duel for his clan's honor (her greataxe was taken from a duergar gladiator she killed) and she, not caring about honor, simply shoved him into a lava pit (with the axe, he rolled a nat 1 to resist, it was hilarious and epic). Ended up taking his shield to complete her set.
The upside is yes, she can take out tons of enemies around her, it's a highly effective aura. The downside is that you have to be a bit reckless, and if your allies are likely to strike back for hurting them? Be careful. They won't pull punches in getting revenge (doesn't help we don't have a healer in the group). Also, you can't Faerie Fire and then rage...which would be amazing. Fortunately, there are other Drow to do the dirty deed. Muwahahaha.
Currently at level 4 with an 18AC. It's good to be the tank. (And bad, this mini-campaign is an under-dark apocalypse and each hit deals at least half health. Oi!)
If the path of the totem warrior is so wanted, why isn't this one in the character builder yet (or in the compendium for that matter)?
Hi Moridrin,
it's in both, but you can't see it, because the Totem Warrior subclass is part of the proprietary information in the PHB.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has just been announced.

Very disappointed Battlerager isn't included in the survey!

Editing polls is something that should be added then! :)
