Shield Master is not a good feat to take. It's a Strength based roll, and even though you roll with advantage while raging, your Strength is not going to be much higher than 13 (or less)!!
Shield Master states: "Instead of making an attack roll, you make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use)."
The target gets to chose Strength or Dexterity, not you. You have to make a Strength check. This should be Black or Red on your feats list, not Blue.

Assuming you have proficiency in Athletics (Not unreasonable, it's a Barbarian skill and it's very useful) and 13+ in Strength, you'll get +4 to the Strength check at 4th level, and it scales with proficiency. +4 and advantage (from your rage) is the functional equivalent of +9 to the check. Shield Master trails off a bit as you level up and the enemy's Strength/Dexterity scores get higher, but a way to gain advantage on your attacks as a bonus action every single turn should not be understated. Also, while the other two effects are somewhat situational, they have saved my warriors' collective bacon many times over.
So I rng'd myself a half-elf sailor barb and I love her. Didn't realise she could be a dex barb until my friend found this for me. You've given me a new target to aim for, big thanks from me and Leah "The Scree" Arden :D
It's probably entirely too late for this to matter, but I'd recommend talking it over with your DM about a Schiavona. It is essentially a broadsword meant for fencing, so it should absolutely be a finesse weapon, but it's an option. Just reflavor it as a longsword without Versatile. Or make a katana which I think is in the phb as a re-flavored longsword with finesse. And then see if you can have that re-flavored as a falchion or something.
I've toyed with making a Goblin dex Barbarian in the past but in the end I never played him. It starts with a +2 Dex and +1 Con so it would be a good candidate. And Nimble Escape is a fun get into combat unseen and rage kind of opening move.
This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

This was a good read, I'm glad I went through it! It opens up a few neat opportunities for characters which I had considered, but didn't know how to make!
I could see a fun archetype for a dex barb/monk multiclass in the kind of wild samurai or monk drop out. Someone who received some training in the monastary/dojo but washed out because of a moral failing or inability to master some technique.
Alternatively, I like the idea of a monk who went down a path of cold, calculating fury and became a berserker of a sort, being cast out of the school for the destructive technique they are developing.
I commend you on the amount of thought you put into this, your creativity, and your willingness to break from convention.
But with that said, objectively a dexterity-based Barbarian is far less effective than a strength-based Barb. Also consider that medium armor is still an option for strength-based Barbarians. If you're doing point buy, medium armor is the way to go. You are giving up SO much going with Dex. Not just the rage damage, but reckless attack (which is a HUGE damage buff) and other traits.
IMO a dexterity-based Fighter is a better option, if that's the rout you want to go.

As soon as I saw "Reckless Attack- This is useless" I kinda lost interest to be honest.
That ability (especially with your higher than normal AC) is still absolutely great. Not sure how anyone can look at it and say its useless.

If you want sugar coating, go buy a dessert....
That’s true but the other two abilities on Shield Master are Dex based and very helpful.

Helpful, yes. Worthy of Light Blue or Blue status, no. Purple or Black at best.

FINALLY SOMEONE THAT DOESN´T MOCK MY DEX BARBARIAN IDEAS!
(i voted no i wouldn´t want to play a dex barbarian because barbarians aren´t rogues, or spellcasters.)

Toying around with the idea of using this as the basis for a Halfling wrestler PC.
Thanks for the head start!
Rage only helps with str based melee attacks
So you would need good str and dex

My Halfling Wrestler - Sticker Burr!
Remember if you're playing an Elf dexterity Berserker you can take the Revenant Blade feat to make the double-bladed scimitar a finesse weapon.
Would this work with a "Centaur Archer" build?

It's useless for a Dexterity Barbarian because Reckless only applies to Strength based attacks.
