"When you use the instrument to cast a spell that causes targets to become charmed on a failed save, the targets have disadvantage on the saving throw. This effect applies whether you are using the instrument as the source of the spell or as a spellcasting focus."
Animal Friendship and Hypnotic Pattern are the only two published spells so far that gain that benefit. Charm Person doesn't have a material component and therefor can't be cast with the instrument; Suggestion doesn't charm its target.
It's a disappointingly short list, but it makes Hypnotic Patternreally good at crowd control.
I dunno, I feel like anything that charms and has a somatic component would be viable (although arguably that is not RAW but would seem more RAI) otherwise there is very little point to have that description on the instruments of the bards. Calm Emotions, Charm Person/Monster, Compulsion, Dominate Person, Geas, Hypnotic Pattern, but that is my personal opinion on the matter.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
“As the sorce of the spell or as the spellcasting focus” to me, personally, sounds like it effects all spells that have a charming effect, not just those with material components.
Modify Memory, Hypnotic Pattern, Geas, Dominate Person, Dominate Monster, Dominate Beast, Crown of Madness, Charm Person, Charm Monster, Animal Friendship. Technically, Awaken also inflicts the Charmed Condition, but there's no save, but something to keep in mind on the off chance it comes up.
When you look up Spells on DDB, you can add additional filters, including the conditions that a spell grants. Very handy for something like this.
I'd like to note that you have to be careful, though, because some of the spells that come up when searching just reference Charmed Condition, including things like Calm Emotions, that specifically remove the Condition, or Suggestion, that talks about creatures with the Charmed Condition Immunity, but isn't affected by an Instrument of the Bard.
A bard can use the instrument as a spell focus, which allows you to use those spells listed above. It doesn't have to be a material component or be a spell that the instrument can cast.
Not sure if this was updated from 2018, but this is currently from the description of the Instrument of the Bards:
"You can play the instrument while casting a spell that causes any of its targets to be charmed on a failed saving throw, thereby imposing disadvantage on the save. This effect applies only if the spell has a somatic or a material component."

Per the description of the item
"When you use the instrument to cast a spell that causes targets to become charmed on a failed save, the targets have disadvantage on the saving throw. This effect applies whether you are using the instrument as the source of the spell or as a spellcasting focus."
So what spells would get this benefit?
Charm Person?
Suggestion?
Hypnotic pattern?
A full list of spells would be nice!

I'm sorry i can't find your quoted text in the player handbook. Have i missed something that big ?

None of these besides Animal Friendship and Hypnotic Pattern have an M component. The spell has to be one of the spells the instrument lets you cast, or have an M component so you can use the instrument as a spellcasting focus.
Same here. Even after searching, I can find nothing about this. Is it an errata, or possibly in a book besides the PHB?
EDIT: Nevermind. After reading the Twitter thread, it became clear that Instrument of the Bard is a magic item.
