Really, there’s no mechanical balance reason for any God’s domains to be limited to printed material. If you DM lets you do it, you can. Conversely, if your DM says you can’t use a domain even though it says so in a book, you can’t. In short, you should probably ask your DM this question. Maybe have a domain in mind and see if they will allow it.
As he's Lawful Evil, I would toss in the Order domain for consideration, assuming you're allowed to use it. The text of the subclass explicitly mentions Asmodeus as an example of a deity for the Order domain.
Just to fan the flames: You could even go for the Light domain since many of the features and Domain Spells go for fire dmg. Might reflavor all the "ilumination" stuff into some kind of sickly green light.
Heya,as part of an evil campaign i want to roll a cleric of asmodeus, and from what i understand he has few domains: war, knowledge, trickery, law.
Some sorces, say he only has trickery and knowledge domains, some say he has completely alien domains such as Evil domain... and frankly i am confused
I am confused WHAT ARE the domains of asmodeus?
According to the Sword Coast Adventurers Guide:
Asmodeus, god of indulgence
LE alignment,
Domains: Knowledge, Trickery,
Holy Symbol: Three inverted triangles arranged in a long triangle
You can find a bit of background info on pag24/25 of SCAG along with a picture of the holy symbol.
