So new player here. Does the druid get access to all spells listed in his spell list (PHB p. 208) he spell slots for? Because some Circle Spells are already in that list (e.g. Barkskin) and some are not (e.g. Spider Climb).
Generally, you have access to all the druid spells.
The problem you mentioned I believe is what spell you can prepare. Both Land and Moon druid prepare a number of spells equal to the wisdom modifier + your druid level, from the Druid Spell list
But Land druids have the circle spells, which can be or not from the druid spell list, and are already prepared. So the circle spells do not count against WIS mod + Druid level.
This has always been the difference between Divine magic ( Druids/Clerics for example) and Arcane Magic (Wizards/Sorcers etc.) Divine Casters had access to all their spells at the appropriate level and had to choose which ones to memorize daily. Arcane casters could only prepare spells they knew and had recorded into their spellbook.
So if you have access to 2nd level spell slots, you can choose from any of the 2nd level druid spells, only preparing a number of spells as detailed in the above post.
Does that apply to cantrips as well? Can you "prepare" a different set of cantrips as needed?
no.

No, but with the optional class feature from XGE or Tasha called "cantrip versatility," you can switch out a cantrip for a new one each time you level up and get an ability score increase. I think.
