Does a level 1 Eldritch Knight get a bonus combat feat?
Do you mean a Level 3 Fighter/Eldritch Knight? No they just get their spellcasting slots and cantrips. If you are talking about Level 1 Fighter, you get your Fighting Style, Archery, Defense, Dueling, Great Weapon Fighting, Protection, or Two Weapon Fighting.

Does a level 1 Eldritch Knight get a bonus combat feat?
Variant Human is the only thing that gets a feat at 1 by the rules, in my games I give everyone a feat at 1 (can’t select Variant Human) as I find it helps give the characters flavor and a little diversity in ability from the get go
I made a elf eldritch knight that is pretty powerful. I went duelist. I have three cantrips and four lvl 1 spells.
C; prestidigitation, booming blade, and frost bolt.
S; find familiar, longstrider, mage armor, and shield.
I took the mobile feat and I took find familiar (owl) as a spell. I can have my owl take the help action and give me advantage on my first strike, without risking it being attacked. First strike booming blade = 2d8 damage, extra attack =1d8. Once per short rest action surge another d8. I can then leave melee range without generating an opportunity attack, if they chase me then thats another 2d8. So I can potentially deal 6d8 in one action at lvl 6.
I actually used that to help my partner (a ranger) kill a gauth in his turn and my turn.
I dont wear armor, but I use one spell slot for mage armor and one for longstrider, leaving a slot for shield as a reaction. I have a dex of 20 and a wis of 16. I use a rapier most of the time but I also have a great sword for extra damage, a whip for a little extra reach, frost bolt if I cant get close enough, and then a long bow for anything further than 60 ft. Its all starting equipment (I traded armor for the whip with DM approval) No I'm not a castor, I'm a fighter. I did figure out a way to make a very effective damage dealer and/or agi-tank.
I'm generally wiping out trash really quickly and put serious hurt on bosses.

Couple of things...
With a 20 Dex light armor is your go to, but Mage Armor is only adding +1 to your AC, I would find some Glamoured Studded Leather and swap out Mage Armor for another spell.
You can’t have Find Familiar and Longstrider, at your level only 1 spell can be non adjuration or evocation, I would recommend Absorb Elements as a replacement for Longstrider, it is situational but good to have. Unfortunately Beyond doesn’t properly filter what an EK can take spell wise so it is an easy mistake to make.
Booming Blade and Extra Attack don’t actually work together. If your DM is ok with it great, but as RAW/RAI it doesn’t work as Extra Attack means when you take the attack action you get two (or more for fighters at high level) attacks, Booming Blade is casting a spell, not taking the attack action.
Action Surge and Extra Attack do work together however, so you can attack twice, action surge, and attack two more times or you could Booming Blade once, action surge, and attack twice or vice versa.
i play an EK, and I love playing him. I have noticed if you enhance them with buff spells, it frees up your otherparty members to focus elsewhere. shield, enlarge/reduce, find familiar, and major image are my go-to spells. using him with enlarge is awesome for out of combat scenarios, and shield is amazing (brings my AC to 25). hope this helps some people!

What level are you? Never played a really high level EK and wonder how effective some of the higher features are.

i am at level 13 right now, should be leveling to 14 soon
honestly never, and my DM house ruled that i could use any spells from the wizard list that i wanted to. honestly, i really only ever use enlarge and shield. i rarely use anything else, although having Haste is nice as well when dealing with skill challenges outside of battle

I would use Haste over Enlarge/Reduce. Double speed, +2AC and 8 attacks with action surge and then 4 attacks per turn - yes please
My DM said he wants to run a one-shot, and I thought, "when else will I have a chance to play a Githyanki?"
Still waiting to see what level it's going to be, but I figured nothing's really cool until 3rd level anyway, so I built an Eldritch Knight.
Ma'arwola'ith (variation on the Welsh word for death) 16 11 15 15 8 9 stats, Great Weapon Fighting, Half-Plate, and a Greatsword (of Mind Stealing...? maybe? home-brewed: does 10 psychic damage on a 20 on the die, and I gain 10 temp HP.)
Spells - Ray of Frost, Green-Flame Blade, Chromatic Orb, Absorb Energy, Shield. In addition to the Gith's Mage Hand and Jump.
I'm thinking maybe he experienced some battle damage, or was possessed by something, and has some amnesia. That's why he's apart from other Gith, and in a party with other PCs.
I have a level 2 fighter who will almost certainly go EK/Wizard in the next few levels.
If/When he dies, I am thinking of making an EK / Celestial warlock combo for lots of tanking. The celestial Warlock gets a pool of dice for bonus-action healing, AND potentially unlimited use of the False Life spell (Although that's an action, and more of use situationally.)
My 3rd level Eldrich Knight - Abel Francisco Denarro (Human variant, noble background) has the Magic Initiate Feat (Warlock) Eldrich Blast, Prestidigitation, Expeditious Retreat and will now get his EK Wizard spells: Message, Blade Ward, Shield, Chromatic Orb and Comprehend Languages. How many spells will he be able to cast and can I mix my Magic Initiate Warlock spells with the Wizard spells regarding my prepared spells (e.g. can I prepare Shield, Chromatic orb and Comprehend Languages and leave the Warlock spell Expeditious retreat (as it is also on the Wizard spell list)?
Also how many spells would I be able to prepare? (INT 12)

Mixing Warlock is complicated, but Beyond does a good job of keeping them separate when multiclassing. You can only cast Expeditious Retreat once a day as you have no Warlock spell slots. As to spell slots you will just go off the EK chart, having magic initiate changes nothing about your spell casting. At level 3 EK has 3 known spells, two of which have to be adjuration or evocation and you have two slots of 1st level.
Eks don't prepare spells like a traditional wizard, they simply know what they know, so any spells you choose are always "prepared"
I would avoid Blade Ward for now, it is an almost useless cantrip for a while. It last a round, so if you plan to take multiple hits of "bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage dealt by weapon attacks" maybe, but you would be better off using your action to either A) Disengage and move so you potentially avoid any hits or B) Dodge, giving disadvantage on all attacks that round, at level 7 you can cast a cantrip and take one attack as a bonus, but even then I would argue that taking two attacks and potentially killing something is much better than one attack, but it is entirely up to you, I just think it doesn't offer enough, if it lasted 2 rounds then it would be worth it because then you would only have to use it every other round.
Also, instead of Chromatic Orb, I would suggest that one person probably invest in Absorb Elements instead. Once you take half damage using this reaction spell, you can add a d6 of damage of that type to your next attack. My EKs always have this spell ready to go, especially if I'm already confident in my AC being sufficient.
Perhaps, but you'd still have to roll an attack for it. And if you miss and waste the spell, that's one less in reserve. Especially if you lack the means to recover spell slots on a short rest (like wizards, warlocks, and land druids).
Another spell that could be very good defensively is Protection from Good and Evil.

PEG is great against the right opponents. Makes an EK into a strong tank.
My EK is at 4th right now. So far,
Booming Blade/GFB (These actually kind of suck in tier one, but that will change in a few sessions with the cantrip damage boost) Absorb Elements Magic Missile (Guaranteed damage at range; does not rely on a high attack roll or DC) PEG Shield
The plan is to multiclass in Wizard for more slots and utility spells. I am still undecided on a subclass, but it's down to Abjuration, Divination, or Warmagic.

How often do you use War Magic or Eldritch Strike? They both sound interesting, but I don't know how often I would use either instead of 3 attacks.
How do you have Enlarge/Reduce, Find Familiar, and Major Image. You get your third non adjuration/evocation spell at 14?
